Outgoing Florida Representative Matt Gaetz has announced plans to expose alleged corruption and misconduct related to insider trading in Congress.
On Friday, Gaetz took to X to hint at forthcoming revelations, tweeting:
Stock trading is such a huge part of Congress. It shouldn’t be. I can’t wait to tell all these stories of corruption, treason and betrayal. Coming soon.

EconoTimes reports on Gaetz’s promise to reveal corruption and betrayal related to his allegations of unethical stock trading practices:
In a move that has sparked controversy, Gaetz accused members of Congress of exploiting insider information to gain financial advantages in stock trading. While specific names and evidence have yet to be disclosed, his claims have reignited longstanding concerns about conflicts of interest among elected officials.
“This level of corruption is unsustainable,” Gaetz said in a recent public appearance, emphasizing the need for greater transparency and accountability. He added that this effort is not aimed at partisanship but at exposing the root of unethical practices in Washington.
The congressman’s remarks have drawn attention to the STOCK Act (Stop Trading on Congressional Knowledge Act), a law enacted in 2012 requiring lawmakers to disclose their financial trades. Critics argue the law is poorly enforced, allowing potential violations to go unchecked.
Gaetz’s announcement has ignited a firestorm of reactions online, with netizens taking to social media to express their opinions. Here’s what users had to say:

The announcement comes as Gaetz, a staunch ally of President-elect Donald Trump, confirmed he will not seek to return to Congress. Speaking earlier with conservative commentator Charlie Kirk, Gaetz explained his decision to step away from public office. He emphasized his desire to support Trump’s administration in other capacities, saying:
We need a leadership structure under President Trump that’s going to allow for durability of our movement… And so I’ll play a part in that. I plan to be a big voice, but maybe not as an elected member of the government.
Gaetz’s departure follows his resignation from Congress after being considered as Trump’s top pick for attorney general—a nomination that ultimately faltered due to insufficient Senate support for confirmation.
Focus Shifts to Congressional Ethics
Gaetz’s comments have sparked speculation about the extent of the alleged misconduct he plans to reveal. Congressional stock trading has long been a controversial issue, with bipartisan calls for stricter rules to prevent conflicts of interest.

Some political analysts suggest that Gaetz may find greater freedom to challenge entrenched practices outside of elected office, where he is not bound by the constraints faced by sitting lawmakers.

Ugh!
Do we really need that Radical’s input.
Anyone that backed this last debacle of an administration should be ousted and shunned.
NY gets the dregs, as usual.
Looking forward to accountability, though.
It’s about time somebody came forward and released the reason why everybody gets rich in the Government, Polosi can send citizens to prison for insider trading that she herself deemed illegal for members of Congress to be involved in but yet here we go. SEND THEM ALL TO JAIL FOR INSIDER TRADING! START WITH THE ONE THAT MADE THE STATEMENT “IT’S ILLEGAL”.
Not a day too soon for the voters to learn who the corrupt are that they vote for
They have known about inside trading for ever, and have never done a thing about it. What makes any one think they will do anything now. To much money and to easy to do. Screw what ever the law says, they think the law does not apply to them. I have lost all faith in our government and I am not sure Trump will be able to do anything to fix this.
Oh Boy! Grab the popcorn people, this is about to get good!
Matt go after the crooked RINOS &
Democrats.
It is time our employees are again accountable to us. All their stock trades, underhanded business deals, lobbyist payments received and interaction with the congressional slush fund that is used to buy silence of people they have victimized should be known by the people of this country. The only way to stop the corruption in Congress is to reveal what these people are doing. Personal accountability.
After we impose term limits, both house and senate members should have their stock portfolios frozen for the duration of their term in congress and 2-4 years after. The freeze should also apply to family members.
