JB Pritzker calls for escalation while ignoring his own backyard…
Illinois Governor JB Pritzker — billionaire heir to the Hyatt hotel fortune and darling of the Democratic Party — is now openly calling for “mass resistance” against the federal government. In a fiery speech delivered Sunday in New Hampshire, Pritzker demanded his supporters ensure “Republicans must not know a moment of peace,” according to The New York Times:
“It’s time to fight everywhere and all at once,” he told the group of Democratic activists, officials and donors, who jumped to their feet with hoots and applause. “Never before in my life have I called for mass protests, for mobilization, for disruption. But I am now. These Republicans cannot know a moment of peace.” [emphasis added]
“The reckoning is finally here,” he declared.
For the Trump administration, of course, but also for his own party.
In the fight over the future of the Democratic Party, Mr. Pritzker has emerged as a leader of an insurgent faction calling for a full-throated, unflinching barrage of attacks on Mr. Trump, his Republican allies and their right-wing agenda.
The warlike rhetoric comes as Pritzker positions himself for a possible 2028 presidential run. However, rather than addressing the growing crises in his own state, he is choosing to escalate political strife on the national stage.

A Pattern of Deflection
Pritzker’s aggressive messaging fits squarely with his role in the “Governors Safeguarding Democracy” group — a coalition he founded with Colorado Governor Jared Polis in late 2024. The group’s stated goal is to “resist federal overreach” during President Trump’s second term.
Yet critics on X (formerly Twitter) point out the obvious: Pritzker seems far more interested in grandstanding than governing.

Key failures under Pritzker’s watch:
-Pension Crisis: Illinois is drowning under a $140 billion pension liability, with nearly 40% of obligations unfunded.
-Crime Surge: Chicago residents face a seemingly implacable crime problem, with a staggering 1-in-58 chance of falling victim to violent crime.

Rather than addressing these urgent problems, Pritzker deflects blame outward, painting Republicans as villains to rally his base.
Dangerous Escalation of Rhetoric
Calls for “mass protests” and “disruption” by sitting governors should alarm anyone who values political stability. Pritzker is not just another activist — he is an elected executive charged with maintaining order and upholding the law for 12.7 million people.
Incendiary language like “Republicans must not know a moment of peace” encourages division at a time when America needs leadership, not provocateurs.
What Illinois Really Needs
Instead of stoking national chaos, Governor Pritzker should:
-Fix the pension time bomb threatening retirees.
-Restore safety to Chicago and other Illinois cities.
-Focus on economic growth and fiscal responsibility.
If Pritzker truly wants to “safeguard democracy,” he should start by cleaning up his own house.

This article suggests that Pritzker should ‘clean up his own house’. He’s not going to. That would be way too hard. It would require him to do something other than talk (and overeat).
