Shortly after Kamala Harris accused DeSantis of refusing her call for political purposes, Joe Biden sang his high praises in a room full of reporters referring to hurricane response, directly contradicting her claims.
“The governor of Florida has been cooperative, he said he’s gotten all that he needs, I talked to him again yesterday, I said, ‘you’re doing a great job, it’s all being done well, we thank you for it,’ and I literally gave him personal phone number to call.”
This was in stark contrast to what Harris had to say about the ordeal.
“Moments of crisis, if nothing else, should really be the moment that anyone who calls themselves a leader says I’m going to put politics aside, and put the people first. People are in desperate need of support right now, and playing political games, at this moment, in these crisis situations…is just utterly irresponsible and it is selfish and it is about political gamesmanship instead of doing the job that you took an oath to do, which is to put the people first.”
Breitbart News reports:
On Tuesday, an unnamed aide to DeSantis told the establishment media that the governor refused to take a call from Harris about the storm, allegedly because the governor believed the vice president was only calling for political reasons. However, DeSantis denied Harris had called him at all.
This isn’t the first time Joe Biden has undercut Harris on the campaign trail.
Just last week in an interview on The View, Joe Biden said he constantly delegated to Kamala, emphasizing her active role.
In a surprise appearance in the White House briefing room, he told reporters that they were both “singing from the same song book.”
This put her in a difficult position, because although she recently claimed she wouldn’t have done anything differently if she were president over the last four years, she has been trying to distance herself from her current administration throughout the duration of her campaign.
Harris has recently cut back her explicit mentions of Biden in her speeches, and Democratic insiders began to whisper that he was feeling “snubbed” and “hurt” by the vice president, leading some to believe it may be related to his recent remarks. Others suspect the First Lady could be involved.
Breitbart News continues:
Rumors are swirling around Washington that First Lady Jill Biden and Harris have a poor relationship, and unsubstantiated reports indicate Jill Biden is actively trying to sabotage Harris’s campaign with Joe Biden as the unwitting attack dog.
Jill Biden and Harris have reportedly not gotten along for years, following Harris’s attack on Biden during the 2019 Democrat primary debate when Harris insinuated that he was a racist for having supported certain school busing policies.
When asked about the vice president’s comments, DeSantis held nothing back.
“She has no role in this. In fact, she’s been vice president for three and a half years, I’ve dealt with a number of storms under this administration — she has never contributed anything to any of these efforts, so what I think is selfish is her trying to blunder into this.”
“Has she ever called before?”
“No! She has no role in this process. I’m in contact with the President of the United States…I’ll say this, I had storms under President Trump and President Biden and I worked well with both of them. She’s the first one who’s trying to politicize the storm, and she’s doing that just because of her campaign…she knows she’s doing poorly, and so she’s playing these political games. I don’t have time for political games. I’ve got people whose lives are on the line.”
