Arizona Democratic Sen. Ruben Gallego is launching an effort to challenge a new Trump Administration immigration policy that could require many green card applicants to leave the United States and complete the process abroad.

According to a report from The Hill, Gallego is not only seeking to overturn the policy itself but is also pursuing a procedural strategy that could make it easier for Congress to reverse the change.

The dispute revolves around a recent U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) policy affecting how certain immigrants obtain lawful permanent residency.

Former Vice President Kamala Harris suggested she may seek the presidency again in 2028, telling the BBC in an interviewthat she remains committed to public service and is “not done” with politics.

“I am not done. I have lived my entire career as a life of service, and it’s in my bones,” Harris said in the interview on Sunday with Laura Kuenssberg.

The remarks are Harris’s clearest signal yet that she is considering another White House bid after losing the 2024 presidential election to Donald Trump.

Harris: “If I Listened to Polls, I Wouldn’t Be Here”

Harris dismissed polling that shows her trailing California Governor Gavin Newsom in early surveys of Democratic voters.

“If I listened to polls, I would have not run for my first office, or my second office — and I certainly wouldn’t be sitting here,” she told the BBC.

A Politico–Citrin Center–Possibility Lab poll conducted between July 31 and August 11 found Newsom leading with 25% support among Democrats and independents, compared to 19% for Harris.

Meanwhile, analysis by pollster Lakshya Jain showed Harris maintains one of the highest unfavorability ratings among senior Democrats, with 54% of respondents viewing her somewhat or very unfavorably.

Despite the numbers, Harris’s comments suggest she is positioning herself to remain a central figure in the Democratic Party, even as internal divisions over her influence and vialibility continue to surface.

Renewed Criticism of Trump

During the BBC interview, Harris reverted to statements made in her 2024 campaign, criticizing President Trump and accusing him of authoritarian behavior during his current term.

She pointed to recent media controversies, including the suspension of ABC host Jimmy Kimmel over false claims involving conservative activist Charlie Kirk, and blamed Trump for what she described as the weaponization of federal power against critics.

“You look at what has happened in terms of how he has weaponized, for example, federal agencies going around after political satirists,” she said. “His skin is so thin he couldn’t endure criticism from a joke, and attempted to shut down an entire media organization in the process.”

No public evidence has emerged linking the White House to ABC’s personnel decisions.

Harris also accused Trump of following through on a campaign “vow” to use the Department of Justice against political opponents.

“He said he would weaponize the Department of Justice,” Harris said. “And he has done exactly that.”

“Bending the Knee to a Tyrant”

Harris further criticized corporate leaders and other public figures for what she described as a willingness to appease the president, alluding to the Paramount Skydance Merger.

“There are many… that have capitulated since day one, who are bending the knee at the foot of a tyrant,” she told the BBC. “I believe for many reasons, including they want to be next to power — because they want to perhaps have a merger approved or avoid an investigation.”

Inside the Turmoil: 107 Days Reveals Democratic Infighting

Adding to speculation about her political future, Harris’s upcoming memoir, 107 Days, is already generating buzz — and controversy — within the Democratic Party.

According to excerpts obtained by Axios, the book offers a striking behind-the-scenes account of the scramble for power following President Joe Biden’s unexpected withdrawal from the 2024 race. Harris provides candid reflections on how leading Democrats reacted in the chaotic weeks after Biden’s announcement, portraying a party struggling to rally around a successor.

Most notably, Harris accuses California Governor Gavin Newsom of dodging her call as she sought key endorsements.

“Hiking. Will call back,” she recorded in her notes about Newsom’s response — adding dryly, “(He never did.)”

At the Democratic National Convention a month later, Newsom appeared to mock the process, joking on Pod Save America:

At the Democratic National Convention a month later, Newsom appeared to mock the process, joking on Pod Save America: “We went through a very open process, a very inclusive process. It was bottom-up, I don’t know if you know that. That’s what I’ve been told to say!”

A spokesperson for Newsom declined to comment on Harris’s claims.

Fractured Unity and Lingering Tensions

Harris’s account paints a portrait of a fractured Democratic leadership still grappling with the aftermath of the 2024 defeat. Her willingness to publicly revisit internal divisions — particularly with figures like Newsom, a potential 2028 rival — underscores how deeply the tensions run within the party’s upper ranks.

Political analysts suggest the memoir could serve as a warning, framing Harris as a survivor of a tumultuous political chapter while signaling her readiness for another campaign.

White House Fires Back

Asked for a response to Harris’s remarks, the White House fully dismissed the former vice president’s comments.

“When Kamala Harris lost the election in a landslide, she should’ve taken the hint — the American people don’t care about her absurd lies,” said Abigail Jackson, a White House spokeswoman. “Or maybe she did take the hint and that’s why she’s continuing to air her grievances to foreign publications.”

While no Democratic candidates have formally announced 2028 campaigns, speculation has already begun about the party’s future direction following its 2024 loss. Gavin Newsom is viewed as a potential frontrunner, though Harris remains one of the most nationally recognizable figures in Democratic politics.

Oh, she’s done alright. She won’t be able to win a dog-catchers race on top of which the Dems will never put the queen of word salad back on the ballot.

My comment is you have to be kidding! Not her again. She can’t communicate, she is pretty stupid, and even with a prompter she gets it wrong!

Her entire life in public service? Yeah, never held a real job outside government. Always lived on the taxpayer’s back. We must get rid of career politicians or lose our country.
