A 63-year-old man from Bucks County, Pennsylvania, has been arrested on charges of harassment and disorderly conduct after allegedly targeting Trump supporters by throwing screws and nails around their vehicles. The incidents, which took place in the fall of 2024, involved the man, Alaric Dalberg, throwing hardware into driveways and parking spaces believed to belong to individuals who supported President Donald Trump.
According to local authorities and court documents, Dalberg’s actions were deliberate, taking place on multiple occasions. The first reported incident occurred on October 30, 2024, when Dalberg allegedly threw nails and screws from his vehicle as he passed by a home with multiple Trump-Vance campaign signs in the yard. The very next day, a woman working at a local grocery store found nails and screws scattered around her parked car. Dalberg admitted to police that he targeted her after overhearing her express support for Trump while shopping.
There was a third incident on November 1, 2024, in which another home with Trump campaign signs was allegedly targeted. Authorities say that Dalberg admitted to throwing the nails and screws, expressing regret for his actions and calling them “dumb and stupid.” During a visit to his home on February 13, 2025, he reiterated his actions to the police, stating that he had intentionally targeted vehicles belonging to individuals he believed supported Trump. In a moment of apparent frustration, Dalberg asked officers, “How could you support him?”
One final detail that leaves many curious is how Dalberg managed to identify which vehicles belonged to specific Trump supporters. Yard signs were self-explanatory, but the question of how he knew the grocery store worker’s car, for example, has raised eyebrows and led some to wonder about the extent of surveillance or observation involved in his targeting. Whether he followed individuals or relied on personal knowledge, it’s clear that Dalberg’s actions were premeditated and targeted.
The case of Alaric Dalberg’s targeting of Trump supporters with nails and screws brings to mind the widespread incidents of Tesla vandalism that have occurred in recent months, due to their association with billionaire entrepreneur Elon Musk. Similar to Dalberg’s actions, these acts of vandalism stem from strong political animus, fueled by opposition to Musk’s involvement in the Trump Administration. In both cases, the perpetrators seem driven by a belief that certain political figures or their supporters deserve punishment for their affiliations. Just as Dalberg targeted individuals based on their perceived political beliefs, Tesla owners have become victims of defacement and property damage, despite many of them purchasing their vehicles prior to him voicing support for President Trump. Both instances highlight how political polarization has led to an increase in hostile acts against individuals, underscoring a broader societal issue.
