On Thursday’s edition of The Megyn Kelly Show on SiriusXM, the prominent political commentator criticized the Democrats for engaging in what she described as “lawfare” against former President Donald Trump’s administration. Kelly expressed frustration over the increasing number of lawsuits filed against the Trump administration, claiming that these legal battles were serving as distractions from the will of the voters. She suggested that Democrats were attempting to bog down the Trump team in the courts, forcing them to play a never-ending game of “whack-a-mole.”
Since he took office on January 20, Trump has signed an estimated 60 executive orders, leading to a wave of resistance from Democratic lawmakers and progressive groups. According to Fox News Digital, these actions have resulted in at least 49 lawsuits against the Trump administration, many of which focus on blocking or challenging key policy initiatives.
During her show, Kelly passionately voiced her discontent with the legal frenzy against the Trump administration, citing a constant and disruptive process. She criticized Democrats for using the court system as a tool to prevent the president from fulfilling the promises made to his voters. “I’m irritated at the lawfare that is being unleashed against Trump’s agenda at every turn,” Kelly said, adding that the Trump administration was forced into a repetitive cycle of defending its actions in court rather than focusing on implementing the people’s will.
Kelly further emphasized her frustration, calling the situation a “distraction.” She pointed out that despite the legal challenges, Trump had been winning many of these lawsuits. However, the toll of defending against them in terms of time and resources was still a significant setback. “Every day it’s another lawsuit to try to stop what Trump clearly has the power to do.”
A recent victory for the administration involved a U.S. District Court judge dissolving a temporary freeze on Trump’s plan to provide millions of dollars in payouts to federal employees. The judge ruled that the labor union lacked standing to bring the lawsuit, clearing the way for more than 70,000 federal employees to receive payouts.
As these issues continue to unfold, the public will likely see more challenges to Trump’s executive actions, and it remains to be seen how these lawsuits will ultimately affect the administration’s ability to implement its policy agenda.
Despite the continuous legal challenges and protests, the Democrats’ efforts to hinder Trump’s agenda may ultimately backfire. Trump is currently polling at record highs, with many political analysts noting that his approval ratings have surged since taking office. Independent voters, in particular, are showing overwhelming support for his leadership, signaling a shift in public sentiment. These swing voters, who may have been hesitant to back Trump in the past, are now more favorable toward his administration, especially as they observe his push for government efficiency and fiscal responsibility. As legal battles persist, the public’s growing support for Trump could turn these distractions into a rallying point, as many Americans see the legal challenges not as a necessary safeguard, but as an attempt to obstruct their own will. If Democrats continue these lawsuits, they risk alienating the very voters they need to win over, especially as Trump’s popularity with independents soars.
