Republican Georgia State Senator Arrested During Governor’s Speech

A Georgia state lawmaker was aggressively arrested at the State Capitol on Thursday.

Georgia Governor Brian Kemp spoke to lawmakers on Thursday morning at the annual State of State address where he also vowed to speed up income tax breaks. However, while addressing lawmakers Georgia State Senator Colton Moore (R) attempted to enter the chamber despite being banned.

According to Mediaite, Moore was banned from entering the Georgia House chamber after insulting former House Speaker David Ralston as a “tyrant” following his death last March. On Wednesday, Moore vowed to ignore his banishment and attend Kemp’s speech regardless of the punishment.

Moore also sent a letter to House Speaker Jon Burns (R) claiming his banishment from the chamber was “unconstitutional, illegal and the most disgraceful piece of correspondence issued by a legislator” in Georgia’s history.

A video later posted by Moore’s team shows the state senator being thrown to the ground outside before being arrested by Georgia law enforcement.

“Senator Colton Moore, who exposed and defeated corrupt District Attorney Fani Willis last year, has been arrested by the Anti-Trump Speaker of the Georgia House,” wrote Moore’s team on X. “Colton is being held in the same Atlanta jail as President Trump.”

“We are working to ensure his expedient release,” the account added. “Please pray for all those standing up for freedom and peace for all Georgians.”

I’d like to know more about this. How can they ban a man duly elected from the chamber he was elected to? Censure him, but I don’t see how he can be banned.

there was no reason for him to be pushed down on the floor. the guy who pushed him down should be arrested for battery and sent to the same jail.
