Republican Governor Drops Strongest Retirement Hint Yet

-

The GOP may find itself fighting to maintain a critical office in 2024…

On Friday, Gov. Chris Sununu (R) said in an interview that he's “not leaning” toward another term as governor but that he plans to make a “firm decision” this summer.

Sununu, who is currently serving his fourth term, said “I don't think I'm going to run again” during an interview on “The Greg Hill Show.”

“I'll make a firm decision this summer, not leaning towards it,” Sununu elaborated later. “We just – we're crushing it in New Hampshire, and I just believe that this isn't a career, it's public service.”

“Could I win again? Of course, but it's service and someone else needs to kind of take the mantle … I got kids to put through college and all that sort of thing,” he continued.

Sununu's comments come more than a week after he announced that he would not be running for the White House.

  1. “You picked a fine time to leave” comes to mind. What are you thinking? The GOP is desperate to hang on to a majority in the House – needs one in the Senate and needs GOP Gov.’s. by the bushel and you walk out on your state now? Kids in college don’t need you – they did in elementary and high school – now they need to find their own way with your support by phone, etc. but not physically. Why not be honest – you made your fortune : 6yrs at : Governor of New Hampshire Chris Sununu$134,581 a year = $807486
