We are getting closer to putting career politicians like Nancy Pelosi and Mitch McConnell out of business. Another big winner on Nov. 5 was term limits.
During the last congressional session, U.S. Senator Ted Cruz (R-Texas) and Rep. Ralph Norman (R-S.C.) filed in their respective bodies legislation requiring congressional term limits of three terms in the House and two terms in the Senate.
Norman’s bill had 107 House sponsors, and Cruz’s bill had 20 Senate sponsors. Now that the ballot counting is over, the House has elected 120 U.S. Term Limits pledge signers, and the Senate has 23.
Even more notable about the power of the term limits message is who won campaigning on this issue.
In Ohio, Senator-elect Bernie Moreno defeated long-time incumbent Senator Sherrod Brown, who was for term limits before he was against it. A year in advance of running for the Senate, Moreno was appointed Ohio’s U.S. Term Limits Chairman. Using his new position, he toured the state, speaking on the importance of term limits. When he officially announced for the Senate, Moreno made it his top issue. He will now be a powerful ally in D.C. for passing term limits.
Like Moreno, another U.S. Term Limits chairman, Micah Beckwith, also won statewide office. Beckwith used the issue to promote his profile in Indiana, and he is now the lt. governor-elect.
In Utah, U.S. Term Limits Chairwoman Tina Cannon is now the first woman elected on her own statewide. This January, she will be the state auditor.
In Oregon, Alek Skarlatos won for the Oregon House of Representatives.
In South Dakota, State Chairwoman Taffy Howard was elected to the state senate.
After passing legislative term limits in North Dakota, State Chairman Jared Hendrix was elected to the North Dakota House of Representatives.
The term limits issue is on the move. It is getting closer to becoming a reality that will end the stranglehold of career politicians and return power to the people. No longer will Congress be the most expensive nursing home in the country.

We can only hope!!
I’ll believe it when I see it.
Yes please pass term limits on Congress. We don’t need any other Nancy Pelosi’s running wild in Congress.
In the beginning no political office had rights to remain in office forever like these politicians do in todays main stream; set term limits of 2 terms for everyone much like they do for state Governors; I used to work for a man who plainly stated when you reach five years and have not been promoted due to your work performance and ethic then you will be fired! Why when I asked the question, because you are stale and do not put the effort into your position and we need leaders who will work and lead not sit on their humps raking in their salary! We need term limits to rid ourselves of these long term politicians who do nothing for the American People!
Term limits: Supporters for this troubling legislation seem to be ignoring arguments made in the Federalist Papers. Granted, the comments were directed towards the Judicial Branch, observing that term limits would remove our best informed and experienced judges. But using that same argument, many of our best and most experienced congressmen would also be ousted to be replaced by individuals who lack the credentials. Recall that the Executive Branch did not start out with term limits either. Are we better off today because of term limits for the Executive Branch? Maybe this particular issue regarding term limits for congressmen would be better left for the states to decide. The initiative may possibly do more harm than good.
