President Donald Trump has come to the defense of Attorney General Pam Bondi amid reports of tensions between Bondi and other members of his administration over her handling of documents related to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.
In a statement posted Saturday on Truth Social, Trump blasted what he called “selfish people” within his administration who are targeting Bondi and dismissed renewed attention on the Epstein case as a distraction orchestrated by political enemies.
“What’s going on with my ‘boys’ and, in some cases, ‘gals?’ They’re all going after Attorney General Pam Bondi, who is doing a FANTASTIC JOB!” Trump wrote. “We’re on one Team, MAGA, and I don’t like what’s happening.”
Trump’s statement appears to be a direct response to growing grassroots pressure within the MAGA movement itself. At this weekend’s Turning Point USA Student Action Summit in Tampa, Florida—a key event in the conservative calendar—several high-profile speakers, including prominent Trump allies, openly criticized Bondi’s handling of the Epstein files. Calls for her replacement were made from the stage, with many speakers urging full transparency and demanding the release of any client list tied to Epstein’s criminal network, drawing loud applause and highlighting the growing tension between the base and a Trump administration seen by some as shielding Bondi from scrutiny.
The post appears to be a direct response to recent reports of internal disagreements between Bondi and FBI Deputy Director Dan Bongino. According to a report from Daily Wire correspondent Mary Margaret Olohan, a source close to Bongino claimed the rift was significant enough that Bongino “won’t stay at FBI if she stays at DOJ.”
In his post, Trump cast doubt on the continued focus on Epstein and questioned why Democrats never released the so-called Epstein List during their time in power.
“For year[s], it’s Epstein, over and over again,” Trump said. “Why are we giving publicity to Files written by Obama, Crooked Hillary, Comey, Brennan, and the Losers and Criminals of the Biden Administration… If there was ANYTHING in there that could have hurt the MAGA Movement, why didn’t they use it?”
He compared the renewed Epstein scrutiny to past politically motivated attacks, likening it to the discredited Steele Dossier and the Russian Collusion Hoax.
Trump also reiterated his support for FBI Director Kash Patel and urged federal investigators to focus on voter fraud, political corruption, and left-wing fundraising operations like ActBlue instead of what he labeled “Radical Left inspired documents on Jeffrey Epstein.”
“LET PAM BONDI DO HER JOB — SHE’S GREAT!” Trump declared.
The controversy intensified last week after Bondi was pressed by a reporter during a cabinet meeting about the DOJ and FBI’s recent memo, which concluded that there was no evidence Epstein had a so-called “client list” and insisted that he died by suicide.
Trump interjected during the exchange, expressing frustration at the line of questioning.
“I mean, I can’t believe you’re asking a question on Epstein at a time like this, where we’re having some of the greatest success and also tragedy with what happened in Texas,” Trump said, referring to recent flash flooding in the state.
Still, Bondi offered clarification. She said comments she made earlier this year—about having the Epstein client file “sitting on her desk”—were misunderstood.
“In February, I did an interview on Fox, and I was asked a question about the client list. My response was, ‘It’s sitting on my desk to be reviewed,’ meaning the file, along with the JFK and MLK files as well,” she explained.
Bondi also confirmed that large volumes of video materials associated with Epstein’s case were, in fact, illegal child pornography and would not be released publicly.
“Tens of thousands of videos turned out to be child porn downloaded by that disgusting Jeffrey Epstein,” she said. “Child porn is what they were—never going to be released, never going to see the light of day.”
But while Trump’s message was unequivocal—Bondi stays—the rift between the administration and its base may be more difficult to patch. Many grassroots conservatives and MAGA-aligned influencers view full disclosure of the Epstein files as a moral imperative, not just a political issue. The open calls for Bondi’s ouster at the Turning Point USA summit point to a deepening frustration among core supporters who believe the administration is stonewalling transparency. Trump’s defense of Bondi may come across as tone-deaf to a movement that once prided itself on “draining the swamp.” The question now is whether Trump’s inner circle will heed that pressure—or risk alienating the very voters who propelled him back into office.

Bondi is a giant disappointment. I was a supporter initially, but this woman has done absolutely nothing in nearly 6 months. Now she apparently caves to pressure from Trump and the rich and powerful who were Epstein clients of one type or another. l This pressure caused the ditching of exposure of those persons.
I cannot tell you how disappointed I am in Trump over all of this, caving to pressure and continuing to support this do nothing AG.
