President Donald Trump intensified his opposition to transgender athletes participating in women’s sports on Monday night, threatening “large-scale fines” against California.
Trump’s jabs, posted on Truth Social, came after 16-year-old AB Hernandez, a transgender girl from Jurupa Valley High School, secured top positions in California’s girls’ track and field championships.
Hernandez tied for first place in both the high jump and triple jump events, and placed second in the long jump.
In response to Hernandez’s participation, the California Interscholastic Federation (CIF) implemented a “pilot entry process” allowing additional cisgender female athletes to qualify for the state championships. This measure aimed to ensure that no cisgender athlete lost a podium spot due to the inclusion of a transgender competitor.
Despite the policy change, President Trump criticized the decision, stating on his social media platform Truth Social: “A Biological Male competed in California Girls State Finals, WINNING BIG, despite the fact that they were warned by me not to do so. As Governor Gavin Newscum fully understands, large scale fines … !!!”
Governor Gavin Newsom’s office expressed support for the CIF’s approach, describing it as a “reasonable, respectful way to navigate a complex issue without compromising competitive fairness.”

The Department of Justice has announced an investigation into whether California’s law permitting transgender students to compete according to their gender identity conflicts with Title IX, the federal law that prohibits sex-based discrimination in federally funded education programs.
While President Trump’s executive order, signed in February 2025, prohibits transgender women and girls from participating in women’s sports, its legal authority over state high school athletics remains contested. California’s 2013 law allows students to compete in sports consistent with their gender identity, and the CIF maintains its commitment to inclusivity in accordance with state law.
Hernandez has received support from fellow athletes and her community, despite facing online harassment. Her mother, Nereyda Hernandez, says that the harassment primarily comes from adults in positions of power, while her daughter’s peers have shown respect and camaraderie.

FINE THE GOVERNOR, CALIFORNIA INTERSCHOLASTIC FEDERATION (CIF), AND ANYONE ELSE INVOLVED WITH THIS CRAP THINKING!!!
Women: when you show up for a contest and there’s a male in the field just walk away. Refuse to compete and let the male have the “victory” by default. That will soon put a stop to this nonsense.
I recall a case a few years ago that happened in Alaska. The liberals in a school district gushed about including a trans biological male in girls track teams. Some of them soon understood it was a mistake. He began to take first place in almost every event. They realized their daughters were being shut out of college scholarships for track. Of course, the really dedicated liberals still defended the practice because of “gender equality.”
It’s a BOY!!!
