Walmart Heiress Funding Anti-Trump Campaign — On His Birthday

Christy Walton, billionaire Walmart heiress, is drawing national attention after bankrolling a full-page ad in The New York Times promoting “No Kings Day,” a protest movement scheduled for June 14 — Flag Day and the birthday of President Donald Trump.

While the ad avoids mentioning Trump directly, its focus on defending democracy and opposing authoritarianism has been universally interpreted as a pointed critique of the democratically-elected president.

The ad, titled USA, USA, USA, urges Americans to mobilize and be civil in response to actions by the Trump administration — actions critics have labeled as dictatorial. It includes a QR code linking to a map of more than 1,800 planned protests across the country.

The message reads in full: “The honor, dignity and integrity of our country is not for sale. Show up, attend your town halls, be civil.” While the ad does not mention President Donald Trump by name, statements like “WE honor our commitments and stand by our allies,” “WE defend against aggression by dictators,” “WE respect our neighbors and trading partners,” suggest clear criticism of his administration’s policies and tone.

Organizers have purposely excluded Washington, D.C., from the list of demonstration sites. According to protest materials, the decision is intended to avoid legitimizing a military parade Trump is holding that day, which coincides with the 250th anniversary of the U.S. Army.

Trump supporters responded swiftly.

The campaign sparked backlash across social media, with some influencers promoting the hashtag #BoycottWalmart. Several users claimed they had canceled Walmart memberships. Others called for protests outside Walmart stores.

Republican figures including Kari Lake and Rep. Anna Paulina Luna accused Walton of political sabotage.

Walmart issued a statement distancing the company from the ad. “The advertisement from Christy Walton is in no way connected to or endorsed by Walmart,” a spokesperson said. The company emphasized that Walton plays no role in Walmart’s operations and no longer resides in the United States.

Christy Walton, 76, is the widow of John T. Walton, one of Walmart founder Sam Walton’s sons. She inherited a major stake in the company after John Walton’s death in a 2005 plane crash. Forbes estimates her net worth at $19.1 billion.

Though she’s kept a low political profile over the years, Walton has previously donated to arts and education causes and supported Trump-opposing groups, including the Lincoln Project.

“No Kings Day” marks a rare political statement from a member of the Walton family, reigniting broader debates over corporate neutrality and the increasingly blurred line between personal activism and brand identity — especially in the eyes of a company’s customer base.

Irrelevant. Just a rich old hag, doing what she thinks is trendy. She did nothing to earn her wealth, and has no impact on a fine American corporation. I don’t care one way or the other. My opinion, and I’m entitled to it. So is she, MAGA!

Omar and her children need to go back to the home country to remind her children why mom lied about marrying her brother to get to the USA. And mom is a bad person to be here. Ship them all back where they came from.

Same goes for that district that supports her in congress! If they make trouble get them sent back!
