Woman Accuses Graham Platner Of Sexual Assault

Maine Democratic Senate nominee Graham Platner has been accused of sexually assaulting a woman after forcibly entering her home. This news follows the sudden cancellation of several planned campaign events by Platner’s campaign.

The accusation comes from his ex-girlfriend, Jenny Racicot, who claims that nonconsensual sex occurred in late 2021 while he was intoxicated and had entered her home uninvited.

As Politico reports:

Racicot said she had an on-and-off relationship with Platner, who is now the Democratic Senate nominee in Maine, for more than two years before he entered her rural Maine home uninvited one night in late 2021, deeply intoxicated, and forced himself on her while she repeatedly told him to stop. She said she cut off contact with him after telling him the encounter was not consensual.

“I remember him grabbing my pelvis and being really forceful of me,” she said. “I remember the specific moment where I thought to myself, like, ‘This is no longer my choice.’”

Platner denied the allegations.

“These allegations are troubling, serious, and false. Any accusation of non-consensual behavior is categorically untrue,” he said in a statement.

Platner, an Iraq and Afghanistan veteran and oysterman who won the June 2026 primary, categorically denies these allegations, describing them as false. He believes the timing of the accusations is part of a coordinated effort by his opponents ahead of the ballot deadline in his challenge against incumbent Republican Senator Susan Collins.

Racicot previously told The New York Times that Platner engaged in what she described as “reckless” and “unsettling” behavior. She said she did not initially disclose her allegation of sexual assault because she did not want to be publicly identified as a rape victim.

She told Politico she later decided to come forward after the public reaction to the Times story centered largely on allegations made by another former partner, Lyndsey Fifield, who accused Platner of mistreatment and subsequently faced criticism over her ties to the Republican Party. When contacted by Politico, Fifield said she stood by the allegations she made to the Times but declined further comment.
