Melania Trump, the former first lady, has made her stance on abortion clear in her forthcoming memoir. The disclosure may alienate some of her husband’s most ardent pro-life supporters as he gears up for the homestretch to this year’s presidential election.
In an excerpt first reported by The Guardian, Melania emphasized her belief in a woman’s autonomy over her own body, stating: “A woman’s fundamental right of individual liberty, to her own life, grants her the authority to terminate her pregnancy if she wishes.”
Melania has rarely shared her political views publicly. But, as CNN reports, that’s not the only surprise in her book, which is set to be released nationwide next Tuesday:
She also writes in the book that she has disagreed with her husband on some immigration policies, The Guardian reported.
The memoir reportedly details the former first lady’s early life and her relationship with former President Donald Trump, her husband and the current Republican presidential nominee.
Abortion has been a key issue in the 2024 race and Donald Trump this week said hewould veto a federal abortion ban if he is reelected “because it is up to the states to decide based on the will of their voters.”
Trump’s commitment – in the form of a social media post during the CBS vice presidential debate – came as Democrats continue to seize on the former president’s role in undoing national abortion rights protections as a major campaign issue. Trump appointed three members to the US Supreme Court who were critical to overturning Roe v. Wade in 2022. The ruling led to a patchwork of state-level abortion regulations, including restrictive laws in several of the battleground states that could decide the 2024 election.
The revelations come at a time when her husband is courting support from the GOP’s pro-life base. Her remarks, however, demonstrate an uncompromising commitment to pro-choice values, potentially complicating the dynamic between her personal views and the diverse coalition Trump needs to vote in order to win.
Following the release of these excerpts, Melania reaffirmed her position in a video posted on X. She spoke passionately, saying, “Without a doubt, there is no room for compromise when it comes to this essential right that all women possess from birth, individual freedom. What does ‘my body, my choice’ really mean?”

Means nothing. She is not the President and is entiitled to her opinion, no matter how careless and thoughtless her position. He, on the other hand, has carefully and thoughtfully pursued the proper position for this issue. Abortion is not contraception and cannot be considered as such. It is a complete failure of the intellect and an abrogation of accountability to do so, EXCEPT for any of the situations involving forced sex, whether through incest or outright rape by stranger. Also anytime the life and health of the Mother can medically be shown. There already exists a plethora of Contraception methods from barriers through to pharmacology. Them’s the facts and anything else is Rome dissolving into barbarism which the Anti-life Forces seem to desire.
Women still have that right and choice and the media and political try to make it #1 that they don’t! It goes to the states and I personally don’t want a baby being murdered at birth as what our former governor was trying to push forward. Why is it okay if a pregnant woman is killed that the killer (in auto accident as an example) can be charged with double murder? Double standard I guess is ok. When is it killing? As a woman I have many rights but I have a choice. I have a right to rob another person but if I do I may have consequences. When a development of a baby in the womb goes astray then the mother and doctor may have to make choices. I for one in my case chose not to abort and be bedridden for 6 months. What a blessing. That was my choice and women today still have that same choice. Abortion seems to be like COVID and yet majority of us done deal with it and why are we warping everyone’s minds with it? Why should someone else pay for your choice?
It’s definitely a departure from her husband’s PRO LIFE stance – but I honestly do not think it will affect PRO LIFE voters in the least…Melania isn’t running for POTUS. Also, I don’t believe she influences her husband in key issues that much – he’s his “own person”.
She has a right to her opinion which is contrary to natural law. We should pray for her conversion and marriage and Her future role as the First Lady again.
It’s really sad and is an explosive statement on how far our country has declined into immorality when women feel it’s their “right” to kill a baby. This would never have been an acceptable stance 50 years ago, but it shows how far civilization has sunk. We are now in the “Me” generation. It’s all about what “I” want and has crossed into a narcissistic, selfish generation. An unwanted baby could be put up for adoption. There are other options! But why bother, right? We’ll just do away with the inconvenience! Women today are too busy to consider taking any action that might spoil their day. And we won’t even go into the spiritual thought! God is remote and not an important part in everyday life anymore. He is replaced with technology, greed & self-love. I’m very disappointed in Melania and her world view of life. For some reason I didn’t think she would stand favorably for abortion. It diminishes my viewpoint of her.
So Melania has proven herself to be another liberal who’s all beauty but no brains. Anyone with a grade school rudimentary education in human biology KNOWS that the human inside a pregnant woman’s womb, is NOT a permanent part of the woman’s body.
The growing LIFE INSIDE the woman’s womb is a TOTALLY SEPARATE PERSON that may have different hair and eye color. The fetus will DEFINITELY have DIFFERENT DNA and chances are 50/50 that the future human baby is a different sex than it’s mother.
But women like Melania and Kamala don’t understand or don’t care about simple science. All they care about is themselves. Who knows how many fetuses they have both murdered?
I hate to think she is so antithetical to her husbands stances. I am hoping it’s the AI Melania but if it isn’t
I pray for her conversion. Everyone can have an opinion and who cares what she thinks. This is a society of everyone is disposable and when all is said and done all will have to give an account to the Lord.
