On Friday, the White House shared a heartfelt message honoring Devarjaye “DJ” Daniel, a 13-year-old from Houston, Texas, following the discovery of three new tumors. DJ has been battling terminal brain and spine cancer since 2018. Diagnosed at age 6 and given just five months to live, he has defied the odds — undergoing 13 brain surgeries and inspiring countless individuals with his resilience and determination.
DJ’s dream has always been to become a police officer. In pursuit of this goal, he embarked on a mission to be sworn in by as many law enforcement agencies as possible. To date, he has been honored by over 1,300 agencies local, state, federal, and international law enforcement agencies, including being made an honorary member of the U.S. Secret Service by President Donald Trump during a congressional address in March 2025. During this event, DJ was presented with an official badge by Secret Service Director Sean Curran, fulfilling one of his most cherished dreams.

The Daily Wire‘s Amanda Prestigiacomo reported on reactions to the diagnosis, including a post on X from the White House stating that they are supporting young DJ in prayer:
The teen boy’s father, Theodis Daniel, recently revealed that his son has three new tumors.
≈Just winging it day by day. He does have three new tumors,” Theodis said, according to FOX 7 Austin. “It’s rough, there isn’t a class that can teach you how to deal with it. You’re hearing that your child has a nasty disease.”
The White House responded on Friday, sharing photos of Daniel with President Trump and First Lady Melania Trump.
“We’re lifting up Agent DJ Daniel in prayer after his dad, Theodis, shared that DJ is now facing three new tumors,” the post said. “DJ is one of the strongest, bravest young men—and has now been sworn into 1,351 law enforcement agencies across the country.”
“Agent Daniel, you’re a true legend,” the post concluded.
