Fighter jets have shot down the alleged Chinese spy balloon off the South Carolina coast.

The FAA has paused air travel above parts of North and South Carolina following President Joe Biden’s declaration that “we’re going to take care of” the alleged Chinese reconnaissance balloon.
Officials have temporarily suspended operations at Myrtle Beach and Wilmington airports for “national security initiatives.”
The airship was spotted over Charlotte, North Carolina, earlier on Saturday.
Now, like curious sharks circling potential prey, multiple U.S. fighters are whirling around the balloon thousands of feet above South Carolina’s white-sand beaches.
As ABC News notes:
President Joe Biden on Saturday made his first public comments on the Chinese surveillance balloon flying over the continental U.S.
Biden, who is traveling to New York, was asked by a reporter if there were plans to shoot the balloon down.
“We’re going to take care of it,” he responded.
Biden made the remarks after deplaning Air Force One in Upstate New York, where he’s visiting relatives after the passing of his first wife’s brother.
