Trump responds too…
Russia carried out its most extensive aerial assault on Ukraine since the start of its full-scale invasion three years and four months ago, launching 728 drones and 13 missiles in a massive overnight offensive. The coordinated attack targeted major population centers, including Kyiv, Lutsk, Ternopil, and Zhytomyr, in what analysts say was an effort to overwhelm Ukrainian air defenses and cripple key infrastructure.
Zelensky: Interceptions Successful — But Not Without Cost
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky reported that air defense systems successfully intercepted 718 of the incoming threats. But despite the high success rate, the sheer volume of projectiles — and the presence of hypersonic missiles — meant at least a few broke through. Kyiv has not released details on the extent of the damage or potential casualties.
Meanwhile, the Russian Defense Ministry insisted the strikes only targeted enemy air bases and claimed that all objectives were hit.

Russia launched the largest air attack against Ukraine of this war so far.

“This is a telling attack — and it comes precisely at a time when so many efforts have been made to achieve peace, to establish a ceasefire, and yet only Russia continues to rebuff them all. This is yet another proof of the need for sanctions — biting sanctions against oil, which has been fueling Moscow’s war machine with money for over three years of the war,” Zelensky wrote on X.
A new massive Russian attack on our cities. It was the highest number of aerial targets in a single day: 741 targets – 728 drones of various types, including over 300 shaheds, and 13 missiles – Kinzhals and Iskanders. Most of the targets were shot down. Our interceptor drones… pic.twitter.com/Lxa5TdYVXT

NATO Scrambles Fighter Jets to Monitor Skies
The attack’s scale and proximity prompted NATO to scramble fighter jets from Poland and other member states to protect allied airspace. Poland’s Operational Command confirmed that its aircraft, along with NATO allies, were launched to monitor the situation. No Russian drones or missiles crossed into Polish territory, but the alert response underscored the growing volatility on NATO’s doorstep.
The Polish Air Force was put on high alert due to a large-scale, three-hour-long Russian attack on Ukraine. According to the Polish Armed Forces Operational Command, NATO fighter jets were scrambled in the middle of the night, and ground-based air defense systems were brought to… pic.twitter.com/TO60nUrpEj

Trump Reverses Pentagon Pause, Resumes Military Aid to Ukraine
In a dramatic reversal, President Donald Trump announced the immediate resumption of U.S. military aid to Ukraine. The move counters a recent Pentagon decision — without Trump’s knowledge — to pause key weapons shipments due to concerns over U.S. stockpile depletion. Trump framed the aid as a targeted response to Russian President Vladimir Putin’s escalating aggression and refusal to engage in peace negotiations.
The new aid package will focus heavily on defensive systems — particularly air defense missiles deemed critical to Ukraine’s survival amid Russia’s intensifying air war.
Perhaps notably, Putin’s strike came just hours after Trump blasted the Russian leader for his “bulls**t.”
As the New York Post reports:
The major escalation came a day after Trump ripped Putin while threatening tougher new sanctions on Russia, including 500% tariffs on countries that buy its oil, gas, uranium and other exports.
“We get a lot of bulls–t thrown at us by Putin,” Trump said bluntly. “He’s very nice all the time, but it turns out to be meaningless,” the president told a cabinet meeting.

The overnight onslaught also came as Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky is due to meet US envoy Keith Kellogg in Rome on Wednesday.
Zelensky called the airstrikes “a demonstrative attack … at a time when there have been so many attempts to achieve peace and cease-fire, but Russia rejects everything.”
Pentagon: Trump Directs Renewed Focus on Defense
Chief Pentagon Spokesman Sean Parnell confirmed that the shipment of additional defensive weapons was personally directed by Trump. He emphasized that while U.S. defense priorities remain paramount, the updated framework for Ukraine aid allows for flexibility in response to emergent global threats.
The decision comes amid Trump’s increasingly vocal condemnation of Putin’s intransigence — signaling a firmer stance as the conflict enters a potentially decisive phase.

Putin is two faced? Whomever would have thought it! 🙄🙄
It seems like Europe is finally united on a response to Putin. Give them credit for standing tall while Trump hemmed and hawed over his infatuation with Putin. Ukraine has become the Fall Guy for Putin’s dalliance with dictatorship. He didn’t fool all of us out here and never has. Trump’s eyes are now being opened. New sanctions will not result in happy campers within the Russian elite. Europe is moving further and further away from doing business with Russia at all. Ukrainians have had plenty to fight for while Russian soldiers have been giving their lives for a man with insane ideas. Having taught in Ukraine, I know first-hand of their hatred for Russians and love for their own freedom after many years of control by Russia and the Soviets. With Trump on board, Putin may pull a Trotsky and head for parts unknown. Regardless, the world needs to be rid of this dangerous psycho. Eastern Europe will easily integrate into the rest of the continent, and I see the rest of Russia breaking up into separate states and forever ridding themselves of the Russian menace. Reality has set in in the Administration, and now Trump has to make sure that his Cabinet people are fully on board, with apologies to Lindsay Graham..
