In a recent episode of The Joe Rogan Experience, the podcast host and comedian responded to an excerpt from Fight: Inside the Wildest Battle for the White House, written by NBC reporter Jonathan Allen and The Hill journalist Amie Parnes, that suggested he misled Harris’s campaign regarding scheduling issues. Rogan refuted the allegations, asserting that the narrative in the book is inaccurate.
The excerpt from the book, which is set to be released on April 1, claims that Rogan told Harris’s team that he was unavailable for an interview on October 25—the day he had President Donald Trump on his podcast—because it was a “personal day.” According to the book, this was used as an excuse to avoid scheduling the interview. However, Rogan countered these allegations, saying that his schedule with Trump had been set long before and that he simply didn’t disclose Trump’s appearance in advance.
In his Tuesday podcast episode, Rogan explained: “One of the things they said that weren’t true was that we lied about the day that Trump was coming on. No, we just didn’t tell you that Trump was coming on.” Rogan added that Trump was “really easy to book,” stating that the former president had accepted the first date Rogan proposed without asking for any topic restrictions.
The book excerpt suggested that Harris’s team had dispatched someone to Austin to scout the location in preparation for her arrival. However, Rogan clarified that this wasn’t true. He pointed out that, in fact, it was the Trump team that had sent someone to the studio, not Harris’s team.
He also revealed that, despite his willingness to accommodate her schedule, even offering to hold the interview directly after her Houston rally, no firm commitment from her team ever came through.
“No one ever committed to doing it,” Rogan said. “This is really important because they keep pretending that I lied.” He emphasized that he had tried to work with Harris’s campaign to set up a joint interview with both presidential candidates on the same day, but no agreement was made.
Rogan criticized the Harris campaign for not following through on the interview, and he speculated that the narrative of him “blocking” the interview was being pushed as a way to cover up for the fact that the campaign never solidified the arrangement. “This whole idea that we f***ed her over, and that we f***ed her over for Trump — incorrect. Just not true,” he said. “But I think it’s someone trying to cover their a** for the fact that she never did, and if she did do it, it might have had a positive effect.”
Mediaite reports:
Rogan stressed that Harris never actually agreed to the podcast. He said even when he “entertained” her team wanting to bring him out to Washington, D.C., Rogan said he could never get Harris’s team to actually tell him she agreed or even wanted to do the podcast. He also took issue with them limiting the talk to 45 minutes to an hour.
