Dominion Voting Systems has been acquired by Republican election reform advocate Scott Leiendecker, founder and chairman of Liberty Vote, in a deal that includes dropping several high-profile defamation lawsuits against prominent conservatives and right-leaning media outlets.
Leiendecker, who has now become the sole owner of Dominion, told The Daily Caller that the acquisition will hopefully restore public trust in election technology by making the company fully American-owned, American-built, and independently audited.
“Liberty Vote signals a new chapter for American elections — one where trust is rebuilt from the ground up,” Leiendecker said in a press release announcing the acquisition. “We won’t ask for trust — we’ll earn it and prove it.”
Lawsuits Against Conservatives to Be Dropped
As part of the deal, Dominion will drop its remaining litigation against several high-profile figures who have challenged the company’s role in the 2020 election, including:
- Mike Lindell, CEO of MyPillow
- Rudy Giuliani, former NYC Mayor and Trump attorney
- Sidney Powell, former Trump campaign lawyer
Dominion also filed a defamation lawsuit in 2021 against Herring Networks, the parent company of One America News Network (OANN), which will now be discontinued.
However, ongoing litigation with former Overstock.com CEO Patrick Byrne will continue under the ownership of Liberty Vote, according to the Daily Caller.
Rebranding, Transparency, and Reforms
The acquisition marks a major rebranding effort for Dominion under Leiendecker’s leadership, as the company transitions into Liberty Vote — a new entity that says it will champion election transparency, security, and reform.
Key changes and initiatives include full relocation of operations to the United States, prioritization of hand-marked paper ballots, implementation of independent, third-party audits and commitment to paper-based transparency and verifiability.
The shift aligns with President Donald Trump’s executive order titled “Preserving and Protecting the Integrity of American Elections,” which calls for enhanced safeguards in federal elections.
“Every legacy system is under review,” said Leiendecker. “Liberty Vote will be 100 percent American-owned, American-built and independently audited.”
A Legal Legacy of the 2020 Election
Dominion became a central player in the post-2020 election controversy, filing several defamation lawsuits totaling billions of dollars. The company alleged that false claims about its software manipulating votes for Joe Biden caused significant reputational damage and public distrust in U.S. elections.
Major lawsuits included:
- $1.3 billion lawsuits each against Lindell, Powell, and Giuliani
- $787.5 million settlement with Fox News in April 2023
- $67 million settlement with Newsmax in August 2025
Critics accused Dominion of stifling political speech, while defenders argued the lawsuits were necessary to combat misinformation. The legal battles became a centerpiece in the wider debate over election integrity and the role of media in shaping public perception.
Political Implications and Public Reaction
Leiendecker’s acquisition — and the dropped lawsuits — is expected to be well received by many conservatives who viewed Dominion’s litigation as politically motivated.
Election integrity remains a deeply divisive issue in American politics, but Leiendecker believes that transparency and technological reform can bridge the gap.
Dominion, now operating as Liberty Vote, will begin rolling out its revamped systems and policies ahead of the 2026 midterm elections. Whether the changes will calm partisan tensions or further inflame them remains to be seen.

They will just find another voting machine vendor to that will do the same thing. Only way to make sure is paper ballots with counters present from all parties concerned. It is a real shame that honesty is no longer the rule.
Dominion rats selling and jumping ship because they know it was just a matter of time they would all go to prison for vote flipping with their illegal crooked machines.
