Dem Proposal Seeks To Purge Words ‘Husband’ And ‘Wife’ From Federal Law

A new bill making its way through the legislative process in Washington, D.C., would scrub the words “husband” and “wife” from federal law.

Rep. (D-Calif.) introduced the Amend the Code for Equality Act on July 14 to make federal marriage laws gender-neutral.

Fox News traveled to the U.S. Capitol Building to gauge the reaction to her proposal from the lawmakers who may vote on it:

Rep. Don Beyer, a Democrat, said that although he uses the terms “husband” and “wife,” it may not be for everyone.

“I think it depends on who you are,” Beyer said. “I'm not a person that shows my pronouns, but if somebody does list their pronouns then, okay, I respect that.”
