According to a new report, first published by the Daily Beast, House Speaker Kevin McCarthy erupted on California Rep. Eric Swalwell (D) the day after Republicans voted to censure Swalwell.
On June 21st, the House of Representatives passed a resolution claiming Schiff misled the American public throughout the Trump-Russia investigation.
Swalwell, who stood near the Speaker’s podium as McCarthy read the resolution amid a chorus of boos from congressional Democrats expressed his contempt for his fellow Californian. (RELATED: McCarthy Called Trump Personally To Apologize After On-Air Criticism)
“This is pathetic,” Swalwell said. “You’re weak. You’re a weak man.”
McCarthy supposedly looked furious but said nothing at the time. One representative, speaking on the condition of anonymity, described the look on the House leader’s face, claiming McCarthy had a “vein popping out of his forehead” and that he glared at Swalwell for “about 10 seconds before walking away.”
The next day, McCarthy spotted Swalwell shortly before Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s address to a joint session of Congress.
“If you ever say something like that to me again, I’m gonna kick the sh*t out of you,” McCarthy allegedly snarled.
An eyewitness said the two men got “basically nose-to-nose” as the argument between them intensified. “Are we really gonna do this?,” Swalwell asked at one point.
“Call me a p*ssy again, and I’ll kick your ass,” McCarthy responded.
Undeterred, Swalwell reportedly told McCarthy, “You. Are. A. P*ssy,” enunciating each word slowly. (RELATED: Marjorie Taylor Greene’s Outburst Angers GOP Leaders – Was She Right?)

The episode underlines the incredible tension that still exists in the Capitol. McCarthy and Swalwell have their own history. Before the House censured Schiff, McCarthy and his fellow Republicans kicked both Swalwell and Schiff off of the House Intelligence Committee.
Representatives for McCarthy and Swalwell did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
