Congress May Not Be Done With Law-Abiding Gun Owners

-

Are More in Danger?

Last week was a grim one for gun owners as Congress passed and President Biden signed one of the more radical gun control packages seen in over 20 years. The move was backed by 15 Republican senators and 14 in the House of Representatives.

To add insult to injury, there is another major move that Congress still has yet to be executed against law-abiding gun owners and that is the confirmation of Biden's nominee for the role of ATF Director, Steven Dettelbach. His confirmation is all but certain at this point, and I expect Congress to confirm him after the July 4th recess.

While Dettelbach vowed to remain politically impartial should he be confirmed, his track record suggests otherwise.

The Ivy League grad has a long history in Democrat , most recently as the party's 2018 nominee for Ohio attorney general.

During his failed campaign, Dettelbach voiced support for a so-called assault weapons ban, universal background checks and stringent mental requirements for prospective gun owners. (RELATED: Red Flag Laws – And Why They Should Scare Us All)

More Big SCOTUS Decisions Imminent

The is still working on releasing a few more decisions this week, with the next release date set for Wednesday (tomorrow).

The four remaining decisions in what has already been a blockbuster term concern the continued survival of the Trump-era “Remain in Mexico” border policy, the EPA's authority to further regulate carbon emissions, Congress' war powers and the extent of state jurisdiction on Indian reservations.

So far, the court has issued major decisions in favor of religious freedom, gun rights and the unborn. (RELATED: Judge Blocks State From Banning Virtually All Abortions)

Gas Tax Holiday Coming Soon?

President Biden has proposed the idea of a federal gas tax holiday, which was subsequently rejected even by members of his own party. (RELATED: Cruz Introduces Bills After Investigators Uncover Russian Effort to Stymie US Energy Production)

As previously reported by our ALN team:

While many Americans will agree that some relief is better than none, the overall impact of a Federal gas-tax holiday will be very small. For every gallon of gasoline pumped at a gas station, 18.4 cents goes to the Federal government in the form of excise tax, that portion is larger for diesel fuel at 24.4 cents. This means that a family using the most popular truck on the market, a Ford F-150, would save on average $4.24 per tank.”

Biden, Congressional Delegations Visit Europe

Congress is in a two-week recess for the Fourth of July holiday, but as members will tell you, that doesn't mean they are not working.

A bipartisan group of Senators is in Madrid for a meeting of countries which is expected to focus on the conflict between and . (RELATED: Russian Attack Helicopter Crosses NATO Airspace)

As reported by Politico, Senators taking part in the trip are Roy Blunt (R-Mo.), Jeanne Shaheen (D-N.H.), Thom Tillis (R-N.C.), Dick Durbin (D-Ill.), Mike Rounds (R-S.D.), Chris Coons (D-Del.), Joni Ernst (R-), Deb Fischer (R-Neb.) and Rep. Gerry Connolly (D-Va.).

President Biden is also in Europe for the summit, meeting with European leaders. So far the only highlight for the administration I have seen come out of the meeting has been this photo of global leaders not wearing ties that went viral on Twitter:

On a far more serious note, observers overheard French President Emmanuel Macron telling Biden that neither Saudi Arabia nor the United Arab Emirates have the capacity to meaningfully increase oil production.

  1. I suspect Congress will never reconvene. Not in the form we know. It bothers me that you do not report about what is actually happening right now. One thing that got my attention is that the cost of a barrel of oil has not changed appreciably in the last 3 years. Yet the price at the pump is insanely high! That is being manipulated by the Deep State Cabal. Why don’t you research and report about that! And Who is setting all those fires to our food production facilities? By what means are the fires set? DEWS?

  2. CONGRESS WILL NEVER BE FINISHED WITH LAW-ABIDING GUN OWNERS – not as the long as the Second Amendment is the rule of the day.

America was sold down the river when the 18th-century founding fathers replaced Biblical responsibilities (based upon the moral law of God) for Enlightenment rights, and nothing demonstrates it better than the Second Amendment.

Think about it: The Amendment WITH the wording “shall not be infringed” is the MOST infringed, licensed, and limited Amendment of the entire twenty seven. Furthermore, a future generation of our posterity is likely to see the Second Amendment whittled away entirely or repealed altogether. This is inherent nature and danger of optional Enlightenment rights versus non-optional Biblical responsibilities, such as the following:

“Let the high praises of God be in their mouth, and a two-edged sword [or today’s equivalent] in their hand … this honor have all his saints. Praise ye Yah.” (Psalm 149:6-9)

“But if any provide not for his own, and especially for those of his own house [beginning with spiritual and physical protection], he hath denied the faith, and is worse than an infidel.” (1 Timothy 5:8)

Which is more potent: 1) An optional right, or 2) A non-optional responsibility?

Which is more likely to be infringed, licensed, and ultimately abolished altogether?

Which did the pre-Second Amendment Americans look to for their authority to bear arms, with little or nor infringement?

At this same location, you will also find a radio interview Larry Pratt (Executive Director of Gun Owners of America) conducted with me on this same subject. I think you’ll find Mr. Pratt’s remarks especially interesting.

  3. Congress is done. THESE TRAITORS TO OUR RIGHTS and CONSTITUTION will need to be prosecuted. Majority of congress are guilty of many acts of treason. That’s why they want to disarm us.

  4. Law abiding citizens are done with congress. The same way they will ignore Roe vs Wade laws, we will ignore their unconstitutional “SHALL NOT INFRINGE” faux illegal laws.

  5. Congress will not be “done with” gun owners as long as there is a single firearm in the U.S. not in the hands of “government.” AND it will be both/all political parties working to achieve that goal.

  6. OH THEY ARE DONE -MORE THEN YOU KNOW. IT IS GOING TO COME BACK AND BITE THEM BIG TIME. WE HAVE HAD ENOUGH OF THEM DICTATING OT US OF WHAT THEY WANT. WAIT TILL THEY SEE WHAT WE WANT. ————- THEY RE GOING OT WANT TO FIND THE NEAREST EXIT DOOR FAST. OR THY WILL RUNNING DOWN THE ROAD TO FIND A CAVE TO HIDE IN.!!!!!!!!!!!

  7. I shall not register, license nor report any weapon I may or may not own. The government does not have the right to deny ownership or use of weapons legally. The government only has the right to capture and punish criminals, but what they are proposing and passing as “law” is both unconstitutional and unethical.
