Police arrested Mayor after the homeowner held the self-described “Berniecrat” at gunpoint until officers arrived.

The victim and the authorities say Mayor Kamau verbally assaulted the frightened homeowner, repeatedly yelling, “Do you know who the f–k I am?”

The homeowner's phone notified him of the break-in at 6:52 a.m. Saturday. According to the incident report, the uninvited Democrat could be heard screaming profanities in the background during the call to police.

At one point, Mayor Kamau threatened the homeowner, snarling that he'd “wait for my police to get here and see what happens then.” (RELATED: Democratic Whip's Child Sentenced For Assault On Police Officer)

The mayor faces charges of trespassing and first-degree burglary. He commented on the incident while leaving the South Fulton police station without admitting guilt:

The mayor claimed that he believed the residence was abandoned. Unfortunately, this isn't his first brush with controversy.

Georgia's WJCL has more:

The city has had a few bouts with controversy since Kamau took office, including allegations from city officials of misuse by Kamau of his city credit card and then the mayor asking for the GBI to investigate city council for corruption.

Then, earlier this year, the city council filed a lawsuit to remove Kamau from office, an Easter egg hunt approved by the mayor was shut down and an online petition began calling for part of South Fulton to break away from the city.

Kamau was released from jail on an $11,000 bond Saturday, according to jail records.

The mayor's arrest paves the way for the city council to appoint a temporary replacement.

    • The replacement would be just as bad because Fulton country, by the way that’s the city of Atlanta, is made up of 99% black democrats. Nothing new about that. I lived there for years and during that time there were not too many whites that wondered downtown because it really wasn’t safe. Sounds like nothing has changed.
