The Oakland, California NAACP president wants city leaders to declare a crime emergency. In a public letter, she denounces “progressive policies and failed leadership” brought by “the movement to defund the police, our District Attorney’s unwillingness to charge and prosecute people who murder and commit life-threatening serious crimes, and the proliferation of anti-police rhetoric.”
Cynthia Adams issued those and other blistering remarks in a statement urging the city’s 430,000 residents to speak out against crime.
“It is not racist or unkind to want to be safe from crime. No one should live in fear in our city,” the Oakland NAACP president declared.
The group partnered with Bishop Bob Jackson of Acts Full Gospel Church to issue the statement targeting local officials and social justice movements.

On Friday’s broadcast of NewsNation’s “On Balance,” Oakland NAACP President Cynthia Adams discussed a letter she wrote calling for officials in the city to declare an emergency on crime and blasted “the movement to defund the police, our District Attorney’s unwillingness to charge and prosecute people who murder and commit life-threatening serious crimes, and the proliferation of anti-police rhetoric” for creating crime and “progressive policies and failed leadership” for harming economic opportunity and stated that crime is so bad people are afraid to even check the mail, take out the garbage, or get groceries.
Adams said, “You can’t go to the grocery stores. You can’t put your groceries in your cars. You can’t do anything. … We [were] too quiet…and we had to open our mouth. We had to say something.”
In the letter, Adams and Bishop Bob Jackson wrote, “Failed leadership, including the movement to defund the police, our District Attorney’s unwillingness to charge and prosecute people who murder and commit life-threatening serious crimes, and the proliferation of anti-police rhetoric have created a heyday for Oakland criminals. If there are no consequences for committing crime in Oakland, crime will continue to soar. … People are moving out of Oakland in droves. They are afraid to venture out of their homes to go to work, shop, or dine in Oakland and this is destroying economic activity. Businesses, small and large, struggle and close, tax revenues vanish, and we are creating the notorious doom loop where life in our city continues to spiral downward.”
They also stated, “We are in crisis and elected leaders must declare a state of emergency and bring resources together from the city, the county, and the state to end the crisis. We are 500 police officers short of the number that experts say Oakland needs. Our 911 system does not work. Residents now know that help will not come when danger confronts them. Worse, criminals know that too.”

First of all anyone with a working brain who ever thought “Defund the Police” was a good idea . . . well folks with average intelligence and an ounce of common sense knew that was an insane idea – at best!!! I’m pretty sure it wasn’t the parents in the inner cities whose children aren’t offered school choice when their school system is failing and whose children are trying to stay out of the clutches of gangs, druggies, and others who hang around looking for someone smaller more vulnerable to take their anger out on. I actually saw one of the “so-called” Rich White Women (who often got the credit, earned or not, for much of that insane sort of stuff) screaming in the face of a young black policeman and calling him the N word- why would that ever be considered acceptable behavior?? Law and order is one of the main reasons this country grew into one of the most powerful ever with opportunity and a higher standard of living for a greater percentage of their citizens ever in history! A lick of common sense would never have repeated or printed that bit of nonsense from its birth!!!
They collected and pocketed their millions in donations and now they are concerned that their god worshiping, demonrat criminal voters are going to rob and burglarize their mansions .
And worse, they don’t want to pay the exorbitant fees for private security in their gated communities. There is a reason that the founders of BLM did not use the money they scammed from the movement to buy mansions anywhere near large centers of black populations. Where did they buy them? Malibu, CA with a maybe 2% black population and they then spent over a million dollars to bump the security there.
