Trump Grand Jury Proceedings Canceled For Today

Is Alvin Bragg scrambling following the latest preemptive strike by former President Donald Trump?

After a member of Trump’s inner circle leaked news that Trump was preparing for an indictment from the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office today, DA Alvin Bragg canceled the grand jury proceedings scheduled for today.

It was expected following yesterday’s leak that Trump would be formally charged Wednesday after which Bragg’s office would contact Trump and his Secret Service detail to make arrangements for his surrender and court appearance next week.

Trump’s surrender, if it comes, will compel the 45^th president of the United States to travel to New York City Criminal Court for a court appearance, fingerprinting and mugshot.

Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg’s office has “canceled” the grand jury meeting that was scheduled to take place Wednesday as part of the investigation into former President Trump, amid speculation of a possible indictment, two sources familiar told Fox News. 

The grand jury was slated to meet Wednesday and was expected to hear from at least one additional witness, but Fox News has learned that Bragg’s office “canceled” the proceedings.

The grand jury was notified Wednesday morning, and was placed “on standby” for Thursday, a source told Fox News.

Two sources familiar told Fox News Digital on Wednesday that the grand jury was canceled amid “major dissension” within the district attorney’s office. One source claimed the district attorney is having trouble convincing the grand jury on potential charges due to the “weakness” of the case.

Some Democrats have publicly derided Bragg for his apparent commitment to pursuing criminal charges against Trump, arguing that Bragg’s investigation is the weakest of all the criminal probes involving the former president.
