Heroic Israelis On Kibbutzes Fought Back To Save Others

ANALYSIS – Amid all the horrific details of the mass slaughter of innocents by Hamas jihadists in Israel, there are a few emerging stories of bravery and sacrifice.

In my earlier piece, I described the brutal massacre of civilian families at two Israeli kibbutzes, including the murder and beheading of 40 babies and toddlers at one of them.

That latter kibbutz – which is the name of collective agricultural settlements unique to Israel and founded on the idea of being a utopian and peaceful Jewish community – was Kfar Aza. (RELATED: How The Brutal Iran-Backed Terror Assault On Israel Unfolded)

There, even as the murderous Hamas rampage went on, a young Israeli couple reportedly killed seven Hamas terrorists to save their children after the jihadists tried to storm their home.

Adar and Itay Berdychivsky were both officers in the Israeli army and kept weapons at home on the kibbutz, a lesson to all leftist ‘gun grabbers' everywhere.

According to a Ukrainian news report based on a social media post by Oleh Vyshniakov, Israel's consul in Ukraine's Western Region:

When the militants approached their house, the couple hid their 10-months-old twins in mammad, a reinforced security room required in all new buildings by Israeli law, and returned to wait for the militants in the main house to distract their attention from their children.

Adar and Itay killed seven militants, but were then killed themselves.

Their children remained in the hiding place by themselves for 13 hours, before their uncle and grandfather found them there.

“They're safe now, they're surrounded by love and care. Itay's brother and Adar's father, who fought the militants for hours and saved dozens of people – though couldn't reach their own relatives in time [to save them], found them,” Vyshniakov says.

Then there is the bravery of a 25-year-old Israeli woman, Inbar Lieberman, the security coordinator of Kibbutz Nir Am for only a few months.

The New York Post reported that Lieberman heard explosions early Saturday, but:

She realized that the sounds were different than those heard during the usual rocket attacks on the kibbutz — located near Sderot and a stone's throw from the Gaza Strip.

So Lieberman rushed to open the armory, distributed guns to the 12-member security team and coordinated their decisive response amid the unfolding attack.

She placed her squad of kibbutzniks in strategic positions across the settlement and set up ambushes that caught the gunmen off guard and turned the tables on them during their mission to inflict mass casualties.

Lieberman killed five terrorists by herself, while the others gunned down 20 more over four hours as they turned Nir Am into an impenetrable fortress — while nearby kibbutzim suffered heavy losses, Walla News reported.

Ilit Paz, cultural coordinator at Nir Am, told the news outlet Israel Hayom: “It was amazing…” and while her unit was told to be on standby, “Inbal made a decision not to wait and be jumped operationally. In fact, the fact that they did it early prevented dozens of casualties.”

Due to her actions, Nir Am was the only kibbutz in the entire area devastated by Hamas terrorists that was unharmed. Lieberman, too, is a hero.

There are hopefully more stories like these that we can soon share.
