The U.S. Navy confirmed it hired an active-duty drag queen to recruit “a wide range of potential candidates.”
Yeoman 2nd Class Joshua Kelley may be better known these days by his stage name — Harpy Daniels. Kelley has openly performed in drag as Daniels for some time but was only recently called upon by the Navy to recruit Gen Z sailors.
As a “Digital Ambassador,” Kelley was tasked with helping the service branch “attract the most talented and diverse workforce.”
Kelley became the first of five digital ambassadors in a pilot program from October to March.
According to the United States Naval Institute, the Navy is poised to miss its FY 2023 recruiting goals by nearly 16%.

The dispute over drag queen ambassadors is symbolic of a wider debate about drag shows and LGBTQ+ expression. Critics have previously expressed concerns over Drag Queen Story Hour, readings for children by drag performers at libraries, and have also voiced outrage over Jack Daniel’s use of drag queens in marketing.
It comes amid a nationwide push by conservatives to restrict LGBTQ+ rights, specifically for transgender individuals as well as drag queens. Republicans argue laws are necessary to protect children, but critics argue they create a hostile environment and infringe on LGBTQ+ rights.
A U.S. Navy spokesperson told the Daily Caller that the initiative had been an attempt to “explore the digital environment to reach a wide range of potential candidates,” and that it had concluded in April. Five active personnel were reportedly chosen, including Kelley, and they did not receive compensation for their work.

I served in the U. S. Navy for 20 years and was proud to serve. Now I would refuse to enlist. I am deeply embarrassed by the entire U. S. military, all branches, for allowing the moron in the White House to do this to a once great military. I definitely would not serve on any ship that would allow perverts to openly serve. I served in the Zumwalt era and we had don’t ask/don’t tell, which was bad enough because we all knew who was light in the loafers on our ships but now men can wear dresses and females can wear men’s uniforms with no problem. I refuse to call a man by a female pronoun or a woman by a male pronoun. If a male wants to be called a female pronoun and said male has a full beard or mustache I refuse to call it a woman.
That would make me turn around and walk away if I was thinking about joining the Navy. That was a colossal waste of money and will be the most ineffective recruiting ad in history.
This is a CLEAR indication of God Almighty allowing the USA to go through tests, trials, and tribulations. While the US military is FAILING at recruitment objectives, they have to resort to this?????? The Chinese now have about 350 navy ships in it’s Blue Navy arsenal, while the US is reported to have less than 300. The Founding Fathers along with ALL the men and women who gave their lives to protect and uphold our morals, ethics, Constitution and God Given rights are FURIOUS in heaven right now. We are in a period of “Sodom and Gomorrah Lite” right now in the world and scripture is VERY clear on how this gets resolved by God Almighty. Better get a good solid relationship with God Almighty, while he still allows you to be able to have that relationship…

Embarrassing the I and three brothers ever joined the Navy. They were much older than I and made it to retirement. I wouldn’t after they made Zumwalt. I ended mine in 8 years.
