In Guayaquil, Ecuador, a driver thwarted a robbery attempt, resulting in the death of one assailant. The incident, captured by a security camera near a busy intersection, showed four men exiting a vehicle and surrounding another car, where two brothers, who recently arrived from the United States, were seated. In response, the driver fired shots in self-defense, hitting one of the robbers who later died. The other assailants fled. Law enforcement and medical teams quickly arrived, confirming the assailant’s death.
The driver’s identity remains undisclosed, with authorities investigating to determine if the shooting falls under self-defense. Police spokesperson Captain Luis Mendoza mentioned the ongoing investigation, which includes analyzing the security footage.
The brothers involved are cooperating with the investigation.
