Progressive princess Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., is calling to impeach Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas after an investigation found he accepted previously undisclosed gifts from a prominent Republican donor.
“This is beyond party or partisanship,” Ocasio-Cortez said on Twitter. “This degree of corruption is shocking — almost cartoonish. Thomas must be impeached.”
The New York congresswoman also said the report of Thomas’s alleged misconduct reflects negatively on Supreme Court Chief Justice John Roberts.
“Barring some dramatic change, this is what the Roberts court will be known for: rank corruption, erosion of democracy, and the stripping of human rights,” Ocasio-Cortez continued.
According to an investigation by ProPublica, the conservative-leaning justice reportedly accepted luxury trips and outings on yachts and private jets owned by Dallas businessman Harlan Crow which he did not disclose. Crow has previously donated major sums to Republican candidates.
AOC is not the only Democrat lawmaker to criticize the Supreme Court justice, Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse, D-R.I., said the news called for an independent investigation.
“This cries out for the kind of independent investigation that the Supreme Court — and only the Supreme Court, across the entire government— refuses to perform,” Whitehouse tweeted.
In a lengthy statement obtained by The Hill, Crow did not deny the allegations that Thomas had accepted such trips from him over the years but pushed back on speculation that the gifts were anything other than friendly gestures.
“My wife Kathy and I have been friends with Justice Thomas and his wife Ginni since 1996. We are very dear friends. The hospitality we have extended to the Thomas’s over the years is no different from the hospitality we have extended to our many other dear friends. We have been most fortunate to have a great life of many friends and financial success, and we have always placed a priority on spending time with our family and friends. Justice Thomas and Ginni never asked for any of this hospitality,” Crow said.
“We have never asked about a pending or lower court case, and Justice Thomas has never discussed one, and we have never sought to influence Justice Thomas on any legal or political issue. More generally, I am unaware of any of our friends ever lobbying or seeking to influence Justice Thomas on any case, and I would never invite anyone who I believe had any intention of doing that. These are gatherings of friends. On a number of occasions, we have made contributions to projects celebrating the life and legacy of Justice Thomas, just as we have done with other great leaders and historically significant figures. He and Ginni never asked us to do any of this,” he continued.
“We did so because we believe Justice Thomas to be one of the greatest Americans of our time, and we believe it is important to make sure as many people as possible learn about him, remember him, and understand the ideals for which he stands. We will continue to support projects that advance this goal,” Crow concluded.

So Supreme Court Justices aren’t allowed to have friends or be included at social gatherings. This is the same AOC who wore a gifted expensive designer dress to an event that cost thousands of dollars to attend, which she didn’t pay for because it was also a gift that she failed to report. Unless AOC has a specific allegation to make against Justice Thomas, like a particular person having business before the Court, attempting to influence Justice Thomas’s opinion, she should shut up and go away.
