Biden Pardons Everyone Convicted of Simple Marijuana Possession Under Federal Law

President Joe Biden revealed today that he will pardon all prior federal offenses for simple possession of marijuana.

Biden has also asked Health and Human Services Secretary Xavier Becerra and Attorney General Merrick Garland to review how the drug is classified under federal drug laws.

“The federal government currently classifies marijuana as a ‘schedule one’ substance, the same as heroin and LSD – and more serious than fentanyl” noted Biden. “It makes no sense.”

The New York Times reports:

The pardons will clear about 6,500 people who were convicted on federal charges of simple possession of marijuana from 1992 to 2021 and thousands more who were convicted of possession in the District of Columbia, officials said. Officials said the president would urge governors to follow his lead for people convicted on state charges of possession.

The moves are striking shifts for the federal government on an issue that was a campaign promise that Mr. Biden made in 2020.

“Sending people to jail for possessing marijuana has upended too many lives — for conduct that is legal in many states,” Mr. Biden said on Twitter on Thursday. “That’s before you address the clear racial disparities around prosecution and conviction. Today, we begin to right these wrongs.”

In addition to issuing mass pardons for anyone federally convicted of simple possession of marijuana, Biden is urging governors to do the same for state cases:

Even for those in the 70s era?
Or what if they had other drugs on them to?

This has been a long time coming for the Federal Government to realize that marijuana is not a problem like heroin and other actual Class 1 narcotics.. It’s a shame the pandering of adding the race card into the mix has to dilute how good this is. This is good for ALL People.

Joe looks like he has bee using marijuana on most of his public appearances.

By doing this, Creepy Joe has effectively nulllified the statutes (passed by Congress and signed into LAW by a previous president), because no U.S., Attorney will ever bring another possession charge. Of course his blanket pardon overlooks the likelihood that many of the “simple possession” convictions he decries were the product of a plea bargain with a perp who in reality committed a far more serious offense. Our country is being “run” by a doddering, senile bull in a china shop. Let’s go, Brandon.

Federally charged?!?!? How many are going to be let out of prison? For simple possession? Whop, Whop, Wha-hoooo? It’s basically a ticket almost anywhere if the cops even decide to arrest. Now kill someone! That’s who democrats really want to let out of prison.

Mid-term panic anyone? This won’t change anyone’s mind who they vote for. Voters have seen enough of Biden’s damage with their own eyes. The red wave cone is zeroing in on Washington DC and state legislatures/governorship s.
