Judge Willing to Partially Unseal Affidavit From Mar-a-Lago Search

-

Judge has ordered the Justice Department to redact and release its probable cause affidavit used to justify the search of .

But there's a catch.

WATCH:

Reinhart's ruling follows a request by various outlets to unseal records related to the investigation.

As Fox News reports:

Reinhardt has ordered other documents related to the FBI raid to be unsealed today, including the application for the warrant, the motion to seal, and the cover sheet.

Reinhart has given the government one week to submit proposed redactions under seal by noon on August 25th. Judge Reinhart will review those redactions and then decide how he wants to proceed or if he wants to make his own redactions instead.

He reminded all that if the government or media object to his redactions, which will also be under seal, they can appeal his ruling.

Government prosecutor Jay Bratt advised Reinhart against unsealing the affidavit, echoing earlier claims that doing so would jeopardize the government's investigation and that releasing names of any witnesses or additional FBI agents would put them in physical danger.

Both the government and lawyers for media organizations who want the entire affidavit unsealed, as well as Judge Reinhart, agreed this is a very unique and unprecedented case.

Last week's FBI search of Mar-a-Lago was a major escalation in the investigation into Trump's handling of material he brought with him from the White House.

  1. To me it doesn’t matter. The raid was entirely politically motivated. Whatever evidence they say they have is tainted. They could have hidden evidence there or altered any documents present. I have no faith or trust in the DOJ or FBI. They are no better than Hitler’s Gestapo.

  2. The warrant itself is unconstitutional because it is excessively broad. All evidence collected should be thrown OUT!

  3. Bet you the “redactions” will eliminate the pathetic excuse for requesting the warrant! It will show the date and the place and that’ll be about all.

  4. “Reinhart’s ruling follows a request by various media outlets to unseal FBI records related to the investigation.”

So it’s the media that is running this show….
