Ben & Jerry’s Independence Day Message Calls For Returning ‘Stolen Indigenous Land’

-

Perhaps hoping to emulate 's unprecedented drop in market value, Ben & Jerry's ice cream posted anti-American propaganda just in time for the Fourth of July.

On , the woke ice cream company tweeted that the United States must return “stolen indigenous land.”

A message on the company's website echoed a similar sentiment, arguing that displays of patriotism distracted from the truth of our nation's founding. (RELATED: Ben & Jerry's Supply Chain Allegedly Uses Migrant Child Labor)

It was a no holds barred approach, not even sparring the legacies of George Washington and Abraham Lincoln, as the New York Post explains:

Ben & Jerry's proposed to “start with Mount Rushmore,” writing, “What is the meaning of Independence Day for those whose land this country stole, those who were murdered and forced with brutal violence onto reservations, those who were pushed from their holy places and denied their freedom.”

“The faces on Mount Rushmore are the faces of men who actively worked to destroy Indigenous cultures and ways of life, to deny Indigenous people their basic rights,” the statement concluded.

The remarks drew significant backlash, even on Twitter, where the average user is younger and more likely to identify as liberal than the general public. (RELATED: ESPN Analyst Triggered By Mention Of Mount Rushmore)

Among the critics is country singer John Rich, who has been an outspoken figure in the wake of the Bud Light drama.

Taking to Twitter Tuesday, Rich wrote, “Make @benndjerrys Bud Light again.”

Other Twitter users were quick to criticize the American company, whose start-of-the-art Vermont factory is situated atop lands claimed by the Missisquoi Abenaki Tribe.

  4. I suggest they put their money where their mouth is and move their factory elsewhere and start by closing down ALL of their stores etc. that would be a start to giving back land to the indigenous peoples
