Geraldo Rivera just torched James Comey.
On Dan Abrams’ SiriusXM show, the longtime journalist blasted the former FBI director as a “piece of sh*t” who botched the 2016 election, robbed Hillary Clinton of a fair shot, and made Donald Trump’s first months in office miserable.
“He stripped Hillary of her chance to win,” Rivera said. “His ego was so vast he couldn’t resist putting his beefy hand on the scale of justice.” He added that Comey was “a total punk” to Trump, barely shaking his hand and big-footing the new administration.
Rivera admitted his critique lines up — oddly — with both sides. Democrats still fume over Comey’s Clinton email decision, Republicans never forgave him for the Russia investigation. To Rivera, both stemmed from the same flaw: arrogance.
Still, Rivera opposed Comey’s indictment, telling Abrams it amounted to a political vendetta. “Why are we wasting resources to settle grudges?” he asked. Abrams agreed, calling it evidence of “a sick political culture.”
As Mediate reports:
Rivera and Trump’s relationship went back to the 1970s, but the reporter said Trump made him “dump him” because Rivera did not agree with his claims that the 2020 election was rigged.
He expanded on the wrecked friendship last year in an interview with Molly Jong-Fast, saying he felt Trump was “unfit” to be president again — and that was why he was backing Democrat Kamala Harris.
“I feel a loss of a friendship, but it’s been over three years in the making, and I’ve decided that it’s not enough for me just to be against Trump. I want to be for somebody, and I think Kamala Harris would be a terrific president,” Rivera said.
In a recent post on X, Rivera distilled his views on the controversy, writing: “Regarding James Comey, remember the old saying: ‘What goes around, comes around.’” He reminded readers of Comey’s pivotal role in 2016 — calling Clinton “extremely careless” with her emails and announcing fresh questions just two weeks before the election. “He doesn’t deserve to be lionized,” Rivera said, before adding a warning: “HOWEVER, this prosecution of Comey will make him a martyr.”
