The co-host of “The Breakfast Club,” America's leading hip-hop morning radio show, shared how he intends to wield his influence in the upcoming presidential election. In an interview with The New York Times, Charlamagne tha God said he would not endorse Joe Biden or Donald Trump. However, this does not mean that he's apathetic.
Chastising Democrats as “cowards” and condemning Republicans as “crooks,” the legendary DJ told The Times that although President Biden is “an uninspiring candidate who doesn't have any main-character energy,” Trump is “a would-be dictator.”
Mediaite's Zachary Leeman continues:
“This election is three options: Republicans who are the crooks, Democrats who are the cowards because they don't fight enough for nothing, and the couch,” he said. “And the couch is voter apathy.”
Charlamagne called the state of politics “insane right now” and pushed responsibility on the media.
“I blame the media so much for what's happening,” he said, adding people are “tired of politics.”
…
“I tell people all the time, ‘If you lie to them about Democrats, they won't believe you when you tell them the truth about Republicans,'” he said. “So why would I sit there and lie to people about the flaws I see in the Democratic Party?”
I know “who I want to vote for in November to preserve democracy,” he continued – before adding it would be “a grave disservice” not to call out both sides.
Still, Charlamagne remained adamant about his refusal to publicly endorse Biden like he did in 2020. “I just feel like I've been burned with that before,” he said, citing the White House's failure to deliver on campaign promises.
