CNN Senior Analyst Predicts Fani Willis’ ‘Intermixing’ Trump Prosecution With Politics Will Backfire

-

Senior Legal Analyst questioned the effectiveness of District Attorney for “intermixing” her political ambitions with the likely prosecution of former President in the election probe.

During an on-air panel discussion following Trump's arraignment in Washington, D.C., Honig predicted Willis' apparent political flirtations would backfire on her – albeit while sprinkling in praise.

As Mediaite reports:

Willis has repeatedly signaled she intends to indict Trump on racketeering charges that seem based, at least in part, on a recorded phone call in which the former president appeared to pressure Georgia state election officials to find him just enough votes to give him the vital swing state in the 2020 election he lost to President .

CNN's Chief Legal Analyst praised the Fulton County DA, saying, “Willis has a really impressive and distinguished history as a prosecutor. She has prosecuted all sorts of cases. She has done, by and large, a very good job.”  But then he dropped the hammer with, “But I have to point out she has intermixed her own political fortunes with this case in a way that I think is going to backfire because significantly against her.”

When pressed by anchor , he continued:

First of all, she's already been thrown off a piece of this case because she's subpoenaed. Hosted a fundraiser for his Democratic opponent. The judge threw off that part of the case and said, quote, What were you thinking? Second of all, she's used her own subpoenas in this case. She's subpoenaed . Then she recirculated a cartoon, a political cartoon, making fun of Lindsey Graham as part of a political fundraising effort. She's also made inappropriate public statements giving her opinion that this is a criminal case when the grand jury has not voted on yet she gave her opinion about Donald Trump's criminal state of mind. All of this is bad form by a prosecutor. She absolutely does know better. And it's going to be a problem for her when this case comes to fruition.

Extrapolating on how Willis' problem might play out, Honig told Harlow later in the segment:

Legally, here is what happens. She's already been removed from a piece of the case because of a political conflict of interest that she created. And when this goes into the courts, count on Donald Trump arguing that she is improperly mixed her own politics in there and needs to be removed from the case. I know that's been rejected, but that's only because it was prematurely made once the case is brought. They will argue that she has a conflict of interest and they'll argue for prosecutorial misconduct and selective prosecution. I don't know if those arguments will succeed, but she's created this problems for herself.

  1. They don’t care about the outcome. They just want to indict him and run him through the courts. So he can’t bo on the campaign trail. It’s all political and it is backfiring on them big time. Every time something comes out about Bidens quid pro quo. They indict Trump. Every time they indict Trump more people see how crooked they are and become Trumps fans. That’s why he is way ahead of everyone else. Even with them padding O’Bidens numbers.

  2. I smell FEAR from the left, with their bogus charges and indictments . I am ashamed to say that Republicans are weak and cowering to the Democrats. Where is the Strong force that is yelling and pushing back. Democrats come at you like a freight train of one of their own is in trouble. Grow a set of balls and courage Republicans, because we are taking names and watching you all. If you still want a job and position, you better step up !

  3. A few states tried to sue, but the courts, even the Supreme Court, falsely claimed they had no standing. In this way, no evidence of cheating has ever been brought to court. Justice Roberts said if the election was tossed and put in Trump’s favor, there’d be too much rioting! He and Comey-Barrett both received book deals prior to the election. Barr turned his back on Trump; he also got a book deal. Betsy DeVos turned on him; she got a book deal. The woman that went against Melania Trump, her former helper/secretary or whatever and now she’s turned on Donald Trump; she also got a book deal!
