Radio Host Larry Elder Announces White House Bid

-

Another Republican has entered the race for the White House.

On Thursday, conservative talk radio host announced on “ Tonight” that he is running for the Republican presidential nomination in 2024.

Elder told Carlson he felt “a moral, religious and a patriotic duty to give back to a country that's been so good to my family and me.”

Elder, 70, followed up the interview with a tweet.

The New York Times has more:

Larry Elder, a conservative talk radio host who was a breakout star on the right after running unsuccessfully in California's recall election in 2021, said on Thursday evening that he was running for president.

“My father was a World War II vet,” Mr. Elder told Mr. Carlson. “He served on the island of Guam. He was a Marine.” He added: “My older brother, late older brother, Kirk, was in the Navy during the Vietnam era. My little brother Dennis actually served in Vietnam in the Army. I'm the only one who didn't serve, and I don't feel good about that. I feel I have a moral, religious and a patriotic duty to give back to a country that's been so good to my family and me. And that is why I am doing this.”

Mr. Elder, a Los Angeles Republican who bills himself as “the sage from South Central,” was the top vote-getter among challengers to Gov. in the attempted recall, and would have succeeded him had voters not overwhelmingly chosen to keep Mr. Newsom in office.

But Elder says the experience showed that his message resonated with millions of voters, even in deep blue .

During his interview with Carlson, Elder highlighted the importance of , the nuclear family and volunteerism in building strong communities.

Democrats have “incentivized women to marry the government” and men to “abandon their financial and moral responsibilities,” he said.

  1. Larry Elder is a good man. He would make a great VP under President Trump and then a great President for 8 years after that.

  2. Bloody hell! He’d be a good man for the job and I wish him the best. However He’s a hard row to hoe to disentangle me from the Trumpster.

  3. Mr. Elder will NOT be getting my vote, for several reasons:
    1) If he really knew what he was talking about, he would know that the recall election of Newsom in Calif actually resulted in 91% of voters recalling Newsom, if the truth were known. Why doesn’t Mr. Elder seem to know this?
    2) He is supposed to be a friend of Donald Trump – yet he’s running against him? Why? We have a perfectly great candidate in Donald Trump and he is probably the only person in America who knows as much as he does about how to restore America and the economy, govt. etc. to what it should be. He’s been preparing for the presidency for 45 yrs and talking about running for president as far back as 1980. I’ve watched him talk about it. Seems like he is betraying Trump by running against him. IMO, Elder doesn’t stand a chance of winning the presidency.

  4. If Larry needs my signature to get on the ballot in my state I just need to know where the petition is. I will sign it as many times as lawfully possible 😉
