Speaker McCarthy Hands Thousands of Hours of Jan. 6 Coverage Over to Fox News Star

-

Americans may finally come closer to separating truth from sensationalism in regard to the January 6th riot.

According to an Axios report, Speaker Kevin McCarthy granted top-rated host Tucker Carlson access to some 41,000 hours of footage.

“[T]here was never any legitimate reason for this footage to remain secret,” Carlson told Axios. “If there was ever a question that's in the public's interest to know, it's what actually happened on January 6.”

“By definition, this video will reveal it,” Carlson said. “It's impossible for me to understand why any honest person would be bothered by that.”

Last month, McCarthy said he supported the idea of more footage from the Jan. 6 attack being made public and accused Democrats of politicizing the investigation. Two Republicans- Liz Cheney and Adam Kinzinger were seated on the select committee that was formed to probe events surrounding the riot, though both were harsh critics of former President .

“I think the public should see what has happened on that,” McCarthy told reporters in January while discussing the footage.

“We watched the politicization of this. I think the American public should actually see all what happened instead of a report that's written for a political basis,” the GOP Speaker added.

U.S. Capitol Police previously said they shared 14,000 hours of sensitive footage with the Jan. 6 select committee. However, Axios reported nearly 30,000 more hours of footage exist.

The January 6 Committee released its final report last month, recommended charges against former President Donald Trump, and began releasing dozens of witness materials.

This is not Carlson's first investigative dive into the Jan. 6th. riot. In 2021. The primetime Fox News personality produced “Patriot Purge,” a documentary series that sought to tell an alternative story of the events.

    • I watched some footage that came in an email today, & it’s not doctored! Several of the “metro” cops were saying that they’d been set up to fail, that WHY didn’t Pelosi allow the national guard to come, etc.

  1. The truth may finally be revealed. This was a set-up, and the FBI was neck-deep in orchestrating it. Probably the most shameful event in post-Civil War history.
