Congresswoman Bluntly Warns GOP Will Lose House Control In 2026

Off to a rocky start…

A Republican Congresswoman cast serious doubts that the Republican party will manage to maintain control of the House of Representatives as the GOP is set to take on a competitive midterm landscape.

In an interview on Newsmax’s Wake Up America on Wednesday, co-host Sharla McBride asked Rep. Nancy Mace (R-S.C.) about the prospects of the GOP maintaining control of the chamber following the midterm elections.

“Are you confident Republicans can hold on to the majority come November?”

Mace, in response, was candid.

“Well, no, I’m actually not,” Mace said. “I feel like we could do a lot more. We don’t have a lot of time to, I believe, implement all of Donald Trump’s agenda. Republican primaries start in March — Texas is one of the earliest states. And I don’t believe we’ve done enough.”

One reason Republicans are expecting a challenging midterm season is the mass exodus of sitting members like Mace herself. The South Carolina congresswoman is not seeking re-election — opting instead to run for governor of South Carolina. Mace is one of 25 sitting House Republicans not running for re-election. Republicans currently hold a two-seat majority.

In an effort to mitigate the losses, President Donald Trump has encouraged redistricting efforts across the country.

These efforts have had mixed results for far, and many experts have cast serious doubts Republican gains have been enough to impact the outcome.

However, Mace believes that if Republicans want to stay in power, they need to follow Trump.

“Everything he has said has been the best idea for the country,” Mace said. “He’s gonna go down as the best president of the United States. But I don’t wanna see the House or the Senate — particularly the Senate, which is the bottleneck right now — holding up his agenda and ensuring that we don’t win the House. I’m very concerned about the midterms.”

Beyond candidate quality and turnout dynamics, redistricting is shaping up to be one of the GOP’s most important structural advantages heading into 2026. In several Republican-controlled states, lawmakers are already moving to redraw congressional maps in ways that could net the party additional seats or, at a minimum, shore up vulnerable incumbents.

Texas currently looms largest in this effort. In early December, the Supreme Court delivered a significant victory to Texas Republicans, clearing the way for a new congressional map that could add up to five GOP-leaning seats in 2026. In a 6-3 ruling, the justices halted a lower court order and said Texas can use the map while the legal fight plays out.

Florida is another key battleground where redistricting could bolster Republican prospects. Governor Ron DeSantis has already demonstrated a willingness to redraw maps, most notably by dismantling a North Florida district long viewed as favorable to Democrats. Further tweaks ahead of 2026 could reinforce Republican dominance in the state by locking in gains made over the last two cycles and reducing the number of truly competitive districts. Similarly, in states like Ohio and Tennessee, GOP legislators continue to test the limits of court rulings and constitutional constraints, seeking maps that better reflect — in their view — statewide partisan preferences, which currently favor Republicans.

While these redistricting efforts are unlikely to produce a dramatic wave of new GOP seats on their own, they could prove decisive in a narrowly divided House. With margins expected to be razor-thin, even two or three additional Republican-leaning districts may be enough to offset losses from retirements or difficult midterm headwinds.

All the high lever Democrats are still running around free. President Trumps appointments are stalled in Congress. Republicans will never vote in a block to defeat the Communists! Congress is worthless. Get behind the President! No one gives a damn if he hurt your feelings! Stand for the American People! Don’t leave it up to us. That would get messy. We have no plan to embrace Communists, Muslims and the 45 MILLION invaders still here. (Down from 50 million, at least that’s in the right direction). WORK FOR US, don’t just line your pockets! And Pam, those that did, we don’t want hearings or Congressional investigations that never go anywhere. We want arrests, prosecutions and Prison for the Criminals that stole tax dollars thru USAID or any of those crooked NGO’s and social welfare programs!
