North Dakota Gov. Doug Burgum sustained an injury while playing basketball with his staff this morning. The nature of the injury has not been disclosed.

However, it was serious enough to require a trip to the emergency room and cast doubt on his appearance at tonight’s Republican presidential primary debate.

ABC News’ Kelsey Walsh has more:

Burgum is one of eight GOP hopefuls set to take the stage in Milwaukee.

His campaign was expected to provide an update later Wednesday morning.

The Republican National Committee says Burgum and the other GOP hopefuls are scheduled to take the stage Wednesday afternoon to review the debate setup.
