On Wednesday, New Jersey Senator Bob Menendez (D) pleaded not guilty to federal bribery charges.
Menendez’s wife and other two businessmen, Uribe and Daibe, are set to be arraigned later Wednesday.
Last Friday, the Democrat Senator and his wife were indicted on multiple charges including conspiracy to commit bribery, conspiracy to commit honest services fraud, and conspiracy to commit extortion under color of official right.
Sen. Menendez is facing up to 45 years in prison if convicted.
In the federal indictment, Menendez and his wife are accused of accepting bribes from three business people in exchange for actions he took as chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee. (RELATED: US Sen. Bob Menendez and Spouse Indicted)
“Those bribes included cash, gold, payments toward a home mortgage, compensation for a low-or-no-show job, a luxury vehicle, and other things of value,” the indictment said. Federal authorities reportedly found gold bars and nearly $500,000 in cash stuffed throughout the senator’s home that they traced back to the businessmen Menendez allegedly worked with.
Since the charges were announced, nearly two-dozen senators have called on Menendez to leave his Senate post.

Well, the scumbag IS “innocent until proven guilty” and deserves a fair trial before his prison sentence.
