Vanderbilt Pediatric Gender Clinic is halting gender-transitioning surgery for minors for the time being.
The development follows a letter to Vanderbilt hospital written by State Rep. Jason Zachary (R-Knoxville) and signed by 62 members of the Tennessee House of Representatives. Zachary cited “serious ethical concerns” with the procedures being performed on minors as well as allegations that the hospital might be discriminating against employees who refuse to participate in the procedures.

Vanderbilt also told the lawmakers that it would protect conscientious objectors who work at the facility and don’t want to take part in the controversial treatments.
“We are pausing gender affirmation surgeries on patients under 18 while we complete this review, which may take several months,” the letter says. The clinic says they have done about five such “gender-affirming surgical procedures per year” since clinic opened in 2018.
The letter, addressed to Republican State Rep. Jason Zachary, was written by C. Wright Pinson, the deputy CEO and chief health system officer at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. Pinson said that parental consent had been given in each case for the surgery and that no “genital procedures” had been done.
Pinson also said that the clinic complied with existing Tennessee law and would comply with any potential legislation that the legislature may pass.
Complaints against the university hospital arose after a video showing a physician calling the surgeries a “huge money maker” because of the number of follow-ups went viral.

This needs to end and who ever is encouraging this for kids needs to be brought up on child abuse now. I don’t even know a 21 year old who can make rational decisions. This is pure abuse on every level.
I’m so old I remember when the big medical problem was the mutilation of young women in the name of “female circumcision”, now those same people are calling FOR the mutilation of young children. When the asylums were closed the patients were released and are now practicing psychologists, ignoring real science in the name of the pseudo science psychology.
