Trump Announces Halt to Hostilities After Kashmir Escalation
On May 10, 2025, President Donald Trump announced that India and Pakistan have agreed to a “full and immediate ceasefire” following a night of U.S.-mediated negotiations. The ceasefire aims to end a recent surge in violence in the Kashmir region, where missile and drone strikes had intensified in areas untouched by large-scale conflict for decades.

Ceasefire Details and Diplomatic Efforts
The ceasefire agreement mandates a halt to all military action on land, air and sea, effective at 5:00 p.m. local time. Both nations have also agreed to commence broader peace talks at a neutral venue, marking a crucial step toward regional stability.
U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Vice President JD Vance played critical roles by engaging with top Indian and Pakistani officials, including Prime Ministers Narendra Modi and Shehbaz Sharif. The diplomatic effort was also supported by Saudi Arabia and Turkey.
Background: The Pahalgam Attack and Subsequent Escalation
The dramatic escalation stemmed from an April 22 terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Kashmir, which killed 26 Indian civilians and one Nepali. India accused Pakistan of backing the attackers and launched missile and drone strikes in retaliation, reportedly targeting air bases near Pakistan’s military headquarters. In response, Pakistan began mobilizing troops, raising fears of a broader ground war. Both nations accused the other of large numbers of military and civilian casualties, though figures have not been independently verified.
Currently, 3 locations have been confirmed to have been hit by Indian missiles (marked in blue):

Public Reaction and International Support
The ceasefire has been met with public celebrations in Pakistan, particularly in cities like Muzaffarabad and Lahore, where citizens expressed relief after weeks of escalating violence.
The recent skirmishes arise from long-simmering tensions over Kashmir, with both India and Pakistan accusing each other of supporting militant activity in the disputed region. The clashes have resulted in significant casualties and widespread infrastructure damage, further straining the already fragile peace between the two nuclear-armed rivals.
However, with both nations agreeing to engage in broader talks at a neutral venue, the prospects for addressing the root causes of their conflict—chief among them their 80-year dispute over Kashmir—appear more promising than ever.

Hope so & end this 1948 war rerun
It is amazing how sincere liars can be/are, ie, Pakistan clearly instigated this conflict by sending some radical Islamists into India to do harm…which they did. Now, they are saying that they (the Pak’ys) are the victims. These leftists do this all the time, ie, start something and then blame others for their own ‘indiscretions’. This happens in the US literally all the time with the lefty demon-crats constantly screaming at everybody else for what they have or are doing! Look around the world…all the same. I won’t go any deeper in my discussion, but if anyone has any intelligence at all, they will know what I am referring to.
