Constitutional Carry Empowered Man to Stop Mall Shooting Within 15 Seconds

-

Police have revealed new details about the heroism of a 22-year-old man who neutralized a mass shooter in a shopping mall on Sunday with a firearm he was legally permitted to have following the passage of Indiana's law. (RELATED: Police Reveal New Details About Armed Civilian Who Neutralized Mall Shooter)

Constitutional carry, also known as permitless carry, was signed into law by Indiana Governor Eric Holcomb in March of this year amid a wave of pro- bills passed by conservative state legislatures around the country. (RELATED: South Dakota and Indiana Governors Sign Pro-2A Legislation)

Indiana's law came into effect 16 days before the shootout at Greenwood Park Mall.

Governors in Georgia, Alabama and Ohio also signed constitutional carry legislation in their respective states, bringing the total number of states that presently have such legislation to 25 — half of the Union.

The Supreme Court declared in New York State Rifle and Pistol Association v. Bruen earlier this summer that states with “may issue” provisions for conceal carry permits place an undue burden on citizens, making them prove that they need an explicit reason to carry firearms outside the home. Some states with “may issue” provisions such as Maryland are revisiting their practices in the aftermath of the court's decision.

The New York State Legislature responded by enacting further gun control measures during a special session called by Governor Kathy Hochul. Besides banning in many public places, people will not be allowed to take guns into any business or workplace unless there's signage that explicitly welcomes them. Notably, the Indiana mall where the ' latest took place had firearms prohibited signs, but state law trumps the mall's weapons policy.

The shooter obviously didn't obey the signage — and thankfully neither did Elisjsha Dicken.

  1. You can’t expect such freedom in the blue states, and those are the places with the highest rate of gun deaths, but really, everyone of legal age, 18 to 21, in every state should have the legal right to carry a weapon. Of course the left libs will cry about the country returning to the wild west era, which of course is nothing but their usual lies.

  2. Sometimes if you wait on help from the police to get to where you’re at, you might be dead by the time they can arrive.

  3. Ok, this was another tragedy. But, with a somewhat positive ending. Cannot we all see what good logical policies have resulted in. My hat is off to this brave boy, and they should should slap him on the back, shake his hand and leave him alone. And furthermore, learn from this

  4. It is almost unbelievable that the Left is finding fault & criticizing the hero! This is a perfect example of why the Left must be defeated & never allowed to gain power again.

  5. The libtards want him charged with murder and infringement of the gunman’s rights to shoot as many people as possible until the police get there.
