Should This Decision Disqualify Trump in 2024?

-

‘Fifteen days to stop the spread' turned into an eternity.

March 29, 2020, is a day that should live in infamy. The national mitigation plan against , “15 days to stop the spread,” was about to expire. In the Rose Garden, President Trump declared that lockdowns would continue for another 30 days. I tweeted: “President Trump just lost the election.”

When Mr. Trump announced his 2024 campaign Tuesday, he didn't apologize for the lockdowns or even mention them. I supported him in 2016, and during his tenure he did much to dredge the political swamps, but his decision to approve and extend drastic Covid interventions should disqualify him for a second term.

The White House Coronavirus Task Force, led by Vice President Mike Pence, Anthony Fauci and Deborah Birx, put the Constitution into an induced coma. Mr. Trump's decision to adopt Chinese Communist Party tactics and close down the country gave license to states to amplify and extend these terrible policies, to governors to wield unprecedented executive powers, and to school districts to shut students out for months or even years.

Mr. Trump did very little to constrain this overreach. His dramatic Covid order shut down your business, barred your kids from school, denied you access to your church, your gym and your coffee shop. It suppressed screenings and treatments for cancer and other illnesses and kept people from visiting loved ones in the hospital or attending their funerals.

Studies appear weekly confirming what almost everyone now acknowledges—the lockdowns were futile as well as onerous. One set of researchers wrote: “Overall, we conclude that lockdowns are not an effective way of reducing mortality rates during a pandemic.”

Mr. Trump paid lip service to the need to reopen the country but never rallied lawmakers or other officials to do anything about it. It was left to governors like Brian Kemp of Georgia and Ron DeSantis of to do that on their own.

Mr. DeSantis signed legislation that put specific triggers in place to prevent county health directors from declaring an emergency with unending powers. He implemented a patient's bill of rights. He has continued to lead the battle against Dr. Fauci and his unending fear tactics. Little wonder the governor was resoundingly re-elected last week while Mr. Trump's favored candidates went down in swing states across the country.

Covid-19 weakened America's political immune system, leaving the country vulnerable to confusion, panic, unease and cowardice. Mr. Trump had been elected to combat this kind of insanity. He failed when it mattered most and doesn't deserve another term.

  1. Nothing should disqualify Trump from running in 2024, as a matter of fact he should be put back in office now. He actually won the 2020 eection. It is the DOJ who should be disqualified.

    • so trump followed what the criminal fouchi was saying about the science n he gets blamed for what he did next..I guess if didn’t really look up the whole story..what happened in New York?

  2. Most, if not all of the arguments provided by Mr. Hart against Mr. Trump are based on hindsight. No one, except perhaps, Dr. Fauci, who help produce COVID 19, knew what it was and where it came from for months while people died. Trump had to rely on experts as do all Presidents. He has been inflicted with bad advice and back stabbing individuals his entire presidency. There is no one more resilient and knowledgeable than him. Too bad there are so many stupid and deceitful people that do not understand this.

    • Trump’s failure was to underestimate the perfidy of the “Health” experts, and let Fauci and Birx force out Scott Atlas; he didn’t realize that they were also part of “The Swamp.”

  3. Mr Hart is a charlatan, nothing more than a Monday Morning Quarterback. Where has he been for the last 2 years? Waiting under a rock to sandbag Trump with this utter BS?

Come up with something covered in the Constitution, with actual proof, or go step off, sit down, and STFU with this unbounded crap.

  4. Trump should have waited until the final election for Herschel Walker. This is one of the reasons, I have removed myself from him. He should allow Walker to to run and let the Spotlight shining on Walker. Then Trump should announce his candidate after.

    • His announcement just cost Walker the race in Georgia. His big mouth went a long way in costing the republicans a win in both the house and the senate this year. One thing the republicans better do if they make him their candidate, is prepare themselves for another loss in 2024. The hate for Trump is deep and wide spread across this country, and because of that he will never win another election.

      • I don’t believe you were ever a supporter of Trump, or you wouldn’t say that. Mr. Trump has made some politically unwise remarks, but they are overshadowed by his accomplishments while in office. From domestic policies to foreign. We were energy independent, manufacturing was doing well, he tried to close the border, but the left stopped him, he was negotiating with our rivals and successful and we were nowhere near facing a war as we are now. We owe all the problems we are dealing with, to the Democrat left, who couldn’t unravel the good he did fast enough.

  5. Even if you agreed with everything this guy said about how COVID was handled his conclusion is still factually wrong. He claims Trump is disqualified. Not should be disqualified, but IS disqualified. The fact is Trump has not been disqualified. If he had said “should be disqualified” I would have no problem. The guy is entitled to his opinion. When you say IS disqualified, you better be prepared to show some qualification to run that is in our Constitution that the candidate does not meet. The author did not.

  6. So a President gets bad advice from not one, but multiple self proclaimed “Experts,” and it’s all his fault? It would have been better after the 15 days, had Trump said “This isn’t working, therefore you all are Full of Schitt,” I agree, but hindsight is 20/20.
Why do we continue to ignore, the mechanisms put in place by Democrats to manipulate Elections? Mail In Voting is not Secure, it never has been Secure, and it never will be secure, and that’s a provable condemnation. That’s the Big Lie. Add in the Early Voting, After Hours Ballit Drops, and other questionable practices and it’s obvious what’s going on, but the media and RINO’s ignore the evidence right under their noses.

That’s the real story we should be talking about.

  7. Good point Justin. Plus he still takes credit for the WARP SPEED vaccination that does not even work. But, he’s the ONLY one who has a chance of defeating the DOJ, CIA, FBI and the rest of the crooks in Washington DC. So I still support Trump.

    • He did what he had to do and at warp speed. He didn’t know what the pharmaceutical companies would and would not do. He thought they’d be trustworthy. It turned out they were not.

  8. Justin Hart?????? Never heard of him until this article showed up. Now he’s a medical expert? Where’s he been for the past 3 years?

  9. Prominent Conservative ??? No he just another anti Trump er who supports the
corrupt get rich/above the law swamp critters on capitol hill.

  10. He had :

    1. Bad advice
    2. Leftists took over to expand virus emergency day 1
    3. He was rushed into decisions that Deep State wanted
    4. It was rigged
