The ships of the Russian Navy and the People’s Liberation Army Navy of China have started joint patrolling in the Asia-Pacific region.

The naval group includes the large anti-submarine ship Admiral Tributs and the Chinese destroyer Shaoxing. They are accompanied by supply vessels from both countries.
The main goal of the patrol is to strengthen naval cooperation between Moscow and Beijing.
In addition, the crews are monitoring the maritime area and protecting maritime economic activities belonging to Russia and China.
Such joint patrols in the region have been conducted annually since 2021. They cover areas of strategic importance and take place both in neutral waters and near exclusive economic zones.
The current patrol began after the completion of the active phase of the Russian-Chinese Naval Exercise Maritime Interaction – 2025, which took place from August 3 to 5 in the waters of the Sea of Japan.
These drills involved practicing ship-to-ship cooperation between the two countries, including joint anti-submarine defense, gunnery exercises, and maneuvering in complex tactical conditions.
