Florida Governor Ron Desantis signed three bills Friday to make the Sunshine State much less welcoming to illegal immigrants.
Although the legislation has been in the works for several months, it is quite timely given an anticipated influx of migrants into the state due to the ongoing political and civil unrest in the Caribbean nation of Haiti, just over 700 miles off of Florida's coast.

Amongst the bills signed into law by Governor DeSantis today is HB 1589; which “establishes revised penalties related to the offense of driving without a valid driver license”, meant to not recognize driver's licenses for illegal immigrants, even ones granted by other states. Also signed into law by the DeSantis Friday is SB 1036; which requires “reclassification of the penalty for the commission of a felony committed by a person who has a previous specified conviction”, increasing the penalties for crimes committed by illegals.
