A public feud between current and former co-hosts of The View is drawing renewed attention after Meghan McCain criticized her successor, Alyssa Farah Griffin, during a recent podcast appearance.

Speaking on her podcast Citizen McCain, McCain mocked Griffin’s role on the daytime talk show, arguing that she does not represent conservative women. McCain, who served as the show’s primary conservative voice from 2017 to 2021, said she was frustrated with the direction the program has taken since her departure.

During the discussion, McCain also reflected on her own time on the show, describing it as a difficult period personally and professionally. Her tenure coincided with the first Trump presidency and was marked by frequent on-air clashes, particularly with co-host Joy Behar. McCain has previously cited those tensions, along with what she described as a challenging work environment, as factors in her decision to leave.

In addition to criticizing Griffin, McCain praised former co-host Elisabeth Hasselbeck, describing her as a strong presence during her time on the show.

Some of McCain’s claims about the show’s history, including that it only received two Emmys, have been disputed. The View, which has been on air since 1997, has received numerous industry honors over the years, including over two dozen Daytime Emmy Awards.

Griffin joined the program in 2022 after a career in Republican politics and government service. She previously worked as communications director in the Trump White House and later transitioned into media, including a role as a political commentator before becoming a full-time co-host.

Politically, Griffin has identified as a conservative while also distancing herself from President Donald Trump following the 2020 election and January 6. Her more critical stance toward Trump has at times put her at odds with the Republican Party, though Meghan McCain did the same during her stint on the show.

The latest exchange highlights ongoing tensions not just between personalities, but over what defines conservative representation in mainstream media. Neither Griffin nor ABC had publicly responded to McCain’s remarks at the time of reporting.
