Here’s what he wishes he did differently…
President Joe Biden is reportedly disappointed that Attorney General Merrick Garland didn’t prosecute President-elect Donald Trump more aggressively throughout the past four years.
According to a recent report from The Washington Post, insiders close to President Joe Biden say he regrets his nomination of some key officials and aides, including Garland.
The Washington Post reported, citing the president’s complaints about Garland’s prosecution of Trump.
“In private, Biden has also said he should have picked someone other than Merrick Garland as attorney general, complaining about the Justice Department’s slowness under Garland in prosecuting Trump, and its aggressiveness in prosecuting Biden’s son Hunter, according to people familiar with his comments,” the Post reported.
The Post went on to report that Biden’s chief of staff, Ron Klain, pushed for Garland, claiming that as a federal judge, Garland would be seen as nonpartisan in an era when the Department of Justice was viewed as partisan due to its treatment of Trump during his presidency.
“Biden was persuaded, and some Democrats believe the decision had devastating results,” the Post reported of Biden’s decision to nominate Garland. “Had the Justice Department moved faster to prosecute Trump for allegedly seeking to overturn the 2020 election and mishandling classified documents, they say, the former president might have faced a politically damaging trial before the election.”
“(Others blame the Supreme Court and a Trump-appointed judge in Florida for repeatedly siding with the former president and delaying the cases; the Justice Department declined to comment),” the Post continued.
As president, Trump had the authority to declassify documents as he saw fit, and The Post ignores in this section that classified documents were found in Biden’s garage. It’s important to note that as vice president under Obama, Biden had no power to declassify documents and faced no charges for taking them.
The WaPo report also included claims Biden has regretted dropping out of the 2024 race and even said he believes he ultimately could have defeated Trump.
The outgoing president backed out of the race over the summer following a disastrous first debate against his Republican rival, low approval numbers and dwindling donations.
Calls for Biden to leave the race grew among Democrats after his poor debate performance on June 27, and he finally ended his reelection campaign on July 21.
Harris supporters have criticized Biden for waiting too long before withdrawing and for seeking a second term in the first place.
“Biden ran on the promise that he was going to be a transitional president, and in effect, have one term before handing it off to another generation,” Connecticut Sen. Richard Blumenthal (D), told The Post.
“I think his running again broke that concept – the conceptual underpinning of the theory that he would end the Trump appeal, he would defeat Trumpism and enable a new era.”

Well Joe it came down to this, they had the goods on your son and none on President Trump except what was made up.
Thank you for your article, but I have no interest in listening to Biden’s excuses. I still think his wife, Jill, should be charged with elder abuse for even allowing him to run the first time let alone trying to run again. What a shame.
The choice of Garland was actually seen as a hyper-partisan move and vengeful as well.
