Left-wing billionaire renowned for his involvement in American politics is set to purchase upwards of 200 radio stations ahead of the upcoming election financed with hundreds of millions in foreign assets, circumventing long established standards for acquisitions of this nature with the help of the Federal Communications Commission (FCC).
Senator Tom Cotton has been pressing the Commission for answers on the unusual decision to fast track a purchase that typically would have taken over a year, coming down to a party line vote where three Democrats voted against two Republicans. Following Cotton’s inquiries the House Oversight Committee launched a formal investigation.
The purchase would affect prominent conservative radio hosts including Mark Levin, Sean Hannity and Glenn Beck, leading Cotton to believe the decision was politically motivated, and that the foreign billionaire is hoping to influence the outcome of the election, saying, “it would be naive to think the timing is coincidental, or that a Soros-funded network would impartially manage conservative talk shows in the weeks before the election,” noting that “the FCC reportedly attempted to approve the SFM transaction with only 48 hours notice.”
Breitbart News reports:
The Arkansas senator wrote a letter to FCC Chairwoman Jessica Rosenworcel with questions regarding the FCC’s decision to bypass a national security review and expedite Soros’s purchase, a decision that could allow the prominent left-wing billionaire remarkable influence over the airwaves in the days leading to the election.
“Under existing FCC rules, foreign company ownership of US radio stations is not supposed to exceed 25%,” the New York Post reported. “Soros took foreign investment to make his bid and then made a filing asking the commission to make an exception to the usual review process, according to public documents. “The FCC decision to fast-track his deal is the first time in modern history such a deal has been approved by the full Commission without first running the national security review process—a process that could take up to a year or more,” the Post added.
This wasn’t the mega-donor’s first large radio acquisition. In 2022, Soros financed the purchase of 18 Latin radio stations for $60 million by Latino Media Network, run by Obama’s former director of Latino outreach and a Democratic activist. This came after the Democratic Party began hemorrhaging Hispanic support following the 2020 election, and blamed conservative Spanish radio commentators based in Miami (known for its large population of Cuban exiles and anti-communist sentiments) for “disinformation” within the community.

I know! Let’s give ALL American media to our ideological enemies! They already control much of the programming. Mental programming!
What has happened to this country of freedom when somany people are trying to destroy it and we’re allowing people like George Soros openly do it?
This needs to be splashed all over any and all news sites and social media – as much as possible. This exception clearly creates election interference, and shuts down my access to unbiased news information! (Not that it’s not already happened!) This is ridiculous! Anyone who has heard of Soros knows he’s only doing this to censor conservative voices!
Anyone else smell payoffs?
Soros needs to have his US citizenship revoked and be thrown out of the country and not allowed to do business here. All the radio station licenses that belong to the stations that Soros bought need to be cancelled now and all the money he has paid needs to be applied to all the damage he has financed and was done to the country. It is only fair. The communist democrat party should be sued for their share of the damage.
BLOCK THE SALE. Goes against Sherman Anti-Trust and monopoly laws. Remember when the govt brokr up “Ms Bell” telco?
This has to be illegal
Communist Sorry Soros only wants to buy up the radio stations so he can silence the conservative talk shows. That’s the only reason.
