U.S. Northern Command (NORTHCOM) has unveiled the official seal of its new Joint Task Force-Southern Border (JTF-SB), headquartered at Fort Huachuca, Arizona. The specially organized unit now leads military coordination along the U.S.-Mexico border, supporting both the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and Customs and Border Protection (CBP).
The newly released seal is rich in symbolism: an eagle clutching arrows and an olive branch represents both military strength and diplomatic resolve, while a map highlights the joint task force’s area of operations from California to Texas.

Why Was JTF-SB Created?
JTF-SB was established by executive order in January 2025, at the start of President Trump’s second term, to bolster border security efforts. The task force includes 500 troops from the vaunted 10th Mountain Division and a mandate to assist DHS and CBP operations. Its launch follows a broader shift in NORTHCOM’s mission, which now includes targeting human trafficking networks, drug smuggling operations and other transnational threats along the southern border.
According to a NORTHCOM press release, the newly established task force will unify military activities and regional operations under one command structure to bolster border security:
“This is an important step in the whole-of-government efforts to seal the southern border and maintain U.S. sovereignty and territorial integrity,” said USNORTHCOM Commander Gen. Gregory M. Guillot. “Joint Task Force-Southern Border will lead as both the synchronizer of all joint capabilities and the land force commander for USNORTHCOM as we conduct operations on the Southern Border, building upon the excellent foundation set by Joint Task Force-North.”

Multiple Army units from around the country have been tasked to deploy as part of a sustainment support apparatus that will align under JTF-SB to enable additional units such as the 2nd Stryker Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division and Marine Corps units to conduct operations at the southern border as part of JTF-SB. As of our last announcement on Mar. 11, 2025, there are more than 9,600 service members deployed or approved to deploy who will report to or support this new Joint Task Force.
Several National Guard and Reserve units deployed in support of the Department of Homeland Security’s (DHS) FY25 Request for Assistance. They too will align under JTF-SB.
USNORTHCOM was named the DoD’s operational lead for the employment of U.S. military forces to carry out President Trump’s southern border Executive Orders. The combatant command continues to fill critical capability gaps in support of DHS and Customs and Border Protection (CBP).
Since President Trump’s return to office in January 2025, illegal border crossings have dropped sharply, with CBP reporting just 29,100 encounters at the southern border that month—down from approximately 47,300 in December 2024. The downward trend has only accelerated since then:
-In February 2025, CBP apprehended just 8,347 individuals attempting to cross the southwest border between ports of entry.
-That marks a 71% drop from January and a staggering 94% decline compared to February 2024.
These figures represent the lowest monthly apprehensions recorded since fiscal year 2000.

Awesome needed need a Border Defense Command then BDC
I still think a 55 gallon horizontal diameter topper that could slide over the top of the erected wall to prevent hooks from engaging would slow down climbers over the fence.
Finally our border will be properly sealed, after 15 million were allowed to walk right in!
Thanks goes to everybody involved in securing our southern border. Now the illegals will be waiting until the border is ignored by Americans and then they will make their move. We must forever be vigilant. The problem is: Will the Demonocrats tear the wall down when they are back in office ?!?! What about our border with Canada ? They don’t seem to be our friends anymore.
